Elsa's un-forseen popularity?

Does anyone know if Disney will be stocking more Elsa dresses either on the line store or at the Disney Stores in local Malls. There is plenty of Ana dresses available but no Elsa and of course that is the one everybody wants.

Check the Disney store around March 18th. This is when the DVD comes out and I was told months ago they'll be restocking the stores. good luck!

Well, on paper, Anna should be the one we all like. She's funny and nice. She sets out to save her sister and does as well as saving herself. She punches a jerk in the face and has some great one-liners! We do love Anna, but...

...she's no Elsa. I think Disney underestimated how many girls (and women) feel like outsiders. Elsa's character really isn't well developed. Nothing like Anna's, but we just relate to Elsa.

Alot of the reason people want the Elsa dress is because they can't get it.

I think for a lot of little girls, it's that Anna has a sparkly gown and magic powers. I have a soft spot for Elsa because I identify with the character in many ways. 5 yo dd, however, finds her a tiny bit scary. She likes that Anna is goofy and a little tough, and wants an Anna dress when they come back into stock.

I think you're right, and that worries me since my daughter is infatuated with her! We have the Disney Infinity Frozen set and she plays as Elsa constantly. But it's not just girls and women, every time I see the Let It Go scene on youtube I want to lay my sword at her feet and swear my fealty to her.

We don't even know much about Elsa. We know the tragedy of her life and the sadness and fear it brings. I'm loathe to suggest a sequel to a Disney classic but I'd love to learn more about her.

My little one is an Anna girl. Her clothes don't matter, she relates to parts of her character. My middle daughter 1) loves that Elsa creates 2) loves Elsa's voice. I love that she sees Elsa's creations as wonderful and not terrible. My oldest absolutely relates to Elsa shedding her mantle.

Do you have the soundtrack? At the end, there are a lot of "out takes" and cut songs that do give you more a background on the sisters. I'm sorry they weren't in the movie, but there's a lot of great character development there.

But you couln't have Anna's story without Elsa.

Sparkly dress and magic powers do go a long way. And it's correct that anyone who has considered themselves an outcast or outsider would probably identify more closely with Elsa. There is a bunch on the Internet about all the different "groups" who resonate with her story and feel it can apply to them.

Maybe because Elsa sang the song that won the Academy Award.

I just looked and that dress is beautiful. I'm pretty sure the picture of her standing in the woods is the one my dd showed me.
I can't even sew a button and since my dd inherited my lack of seamstress skills we'll have to find something on the rack. Luckily her prom is next year.

I actually think they do more to explain Anna's character ("More Than Just a Spare"). I think Elsa's character is pretty well explained in the movie - she has to hide her true self even though it means pushing away someone she loves (her sister) - finally feels some freedom by going off on her own, but eventually realizes that comes with a price and ultimately the happy ending is when she realizes people can love her even though she is "different"

... can definitely see why people connect with her - plus she is the one with the cool powers and I also see why girls resonate to her dress more than Anna's. I actually think Anna's outfit is cuter but my DD wants nothing to do with it and just wants Elsa stuff

I completely agree. Disney is most often reactionary about their merchandise as opposed to foreseeing/predicting popularity and capitalizing on it right away. The latter means risk and they're just not that into risk these days. Like you said, it took WAY too long for them to figure out the popularity of Phineas and Ferb and that's not the first chance they had they were incredibly slow to move on. Personally, I'd like to get someone in the divers seat (like me ) in their merch. marketing to really change things around. Disney misses tremendous money making opportunities every single day.

Yes, I can relate to Elsa over Anna. Though I do like her. I've always been kind of a loner type I came across a podcast called "The Disney Story Origins". The narrator is excellent. So far he's done Frozen, Sleeping Beauty & Pocahontas. Very entertaining & informative
