Can a character meet with Elsa and Anna be done? Or is it necessary to stand in line for hours?

I don't think my 3 year old could stand that...or me for that matter.

They are not on FP of any kind. (At this time.) Your only choice is to wait. I did it last week alone with my 2 year old, so it can be done. Nabi Jr, the little birds hopping around Norway and snacks helped immensely with entertaining my little girl while we waited. Rope drop also was a big help in reducing our wait.

I've heard they don't offer FP+ for that mg. I have a 7yr old who has ADHD and I will be getting him a DAS card but I also heard that doesn't matter at the mg either :( we are going early April so who even knows if they will still be available. LoL I told my hubby if they are still there he can stand in the 3 hour line and we will walk around and he can call us when he gets close lol

That is exactly the right approach to take.

Does the World Showcase area have a different rope drop time? I seem to remember once upon a time it opened an hour later. Or did I image that?

World Showcase official opening time is 11am, but people start lining up for this m&g earlier.

WS officially opens at 11:00a. However, Norway is accessible much earlier due to the character breakfast dining offered there at Akershus.

It's at 11:00 but, the rope is beyond Norway so you can easily get in line when Future World opens at 9:00.

Darn, in my mind I was hoping that we could run to test track then, run on Nemo, run to rope drop and then be first in line for the meet n' greet.

Well there goes that perfect plan :rotfl:

When we were there yesterday, we were at the world showcase by about 2ish, and they were queing the line for the 6:20 meet and greet. We skipped it. Honestly, I didn't even tell my kiddo they were there. He would have been devastated if we missed it, but we just couldn't do it.
He had no idea we missed it.
The Norway gift shop is almost entirely sold out of Frozen Merchandise, in fact they had the last of the Frozen merchandise of in all of WDW it was like 2things. My 3 1/2 year old, didn't even make the connection that this was the Frozen place and that he was missing it. So, maybe if you can't do the line, just downplay that they aren't there at all.

I think that's what we are going to skip it as well.. We are going at the end of March and it will be the first time we have gone to Disney with the crowds expected to be so high.

I just can't see us "wasting" that amount of time in line when we only have one day in Epcot. :( Too bad though, maybe I can hope for a Disney miracle that it will be added to FAstpass+ by the time we go.

To be honest - they may not even be there - they were only supposed to be there until the end of Dec, but it was extended through the end of January.
When talking to a cast member yesterday, it sounded like they were not sure if Anna and Elsa were going to stick around much longer.
She said, that it was obvious they were very popular, so Disney is trying to figure out a better plan for their characters going forward.
I kind of think all of Disney was blown out of the water with how popular Frozen was and how in demand the merchandise and meet and greets are.

Oh wow, I didn't realize that they were only a temporary thing. Well, hopefully they will figure something out quick!

No!

We aren't going until November and my daughter is already panning to meet her beloved Elsa and Anna.

Even though they are still saying that Anna and Elsa are only in the parks until January 31st (which is an extension of their earlier January 4th departure date), the scuttlebutt from reliable character sources say they aren't going anywhere. There is talk that they may be changing to a more permenant location, and they are also set to have a coronation at MK (probably in early spring) so rest assured, I'm pretty sure we can lay down money that Anna and Elsa will be meeting and greeting guests for some time. Disney seems to want to have all of the princesses available in the parks for some sort of character interaction. Even Pocahontas and Mulan do meet and greets daily, and Frozen is monumentally more popular now.

I could be remembering totally wrong, but I was thinking Rapunzel was also initially listed as a limited time meet and greet. She was so popular she became a permanent character greeting, but was moved locations. I don't expect Anna and Elsa to disappear anytime soon, but they could be moved somewhere else.

The whole coronation thing got me thinking. I'll bet that with the coronation, they move to the MK. And I'd bet good money that they'll end up replacing Merida in the Fairytale Garden area and Merida will move elsewhere.

Oh I agree that most likely they will have them on a permanent meet and greet eventually. I just don't think they are ready for that yet and either is their set.
I wouldn't be surprised if they temporarily paused their meet and greets until their coronation, giving them time to set up a better set/location. So if you are planning on going in the next couple of months I just wouldn't count on it as something that is a must do. If they there and you can do the line, great. If not, then it won't be a huge disappointment.

That's correct. But when they moved Rapunzel and lengthened her hours, they also ditched Flynn. I really hope that's not what eventually happens with this pair. Their relationship is just too important to the story.
