Elliot's Wish Trip... Video of our entire trip posted! (post 492)

I just talked to Elliot's Wish Granter and they'd like to come out tomorrow morning!! She wants to get a jump on things since we think he will wish for Disney and Spring Break would be ideal!!

Elliot's Wish Granters just came for a visit! They brought gifts for all the kids and Elliot officially made his wish to go to Walt Disney World (hopefully during Spring Break)! When they asked him what he wished for he said "A Banana!!" this was all credited to his wonderful big brother! Last night Trevor asked Elliot what he was going to wish for and Elliot wouldn't answer so Trevor said "A banana?" Elliot said "Yes!" and then was stuck on that!

They brought Elliot a mini potato head, play-doh, a Toy Story lunch box and Toy Story silly bands.

Addison got a princess calendar, coloring book and crayons, a mermaid tiara and some wands.

Trevor got an itunes gift card.

His wish granters were awesome! Cate played with the kids while Jamie went over paperwork. They had so much fun crawling all over her, playing potato heads, being robots and more!

Last night Elliot painted his wooden star that they sent to him in advance. Addison was feeling left out so I bought a wooden heart for her to paint. They painted and then added glitter glue and they turned out perfect.

Your vacation starts April 4th? That sounds like a nice weather time to go.... with Easter being so late this year... spring breaks will be all over the board in April I think.... hopefully you'll beat the high crowds! Yay! so you won't have to wait too long!

Yeah, I am really hoping to beat the crowds too. Last year we did the Give a Day thing and went to MK a couple days after Easter, on a EH day and it was a huge mistake! We left the park at 5 without ever seeing Mickey or Minnie, a parade or much else. It was PACKED! I looked up some data on the estimated crowds and that week looks pretty low. Hope they are right!

I was tired when I posted earlier (I worked 3rd shift the night before and it was past my bedtime!) and I forgot to mention that I asked about extending our trip by a day or two. We have lots of family in Florida that we'd like to see but I don't want it to cut into our time at GKTW. They said they saw no problem staying extra, once we leave GKTW and return auto (will try to re-rent it). I'd like to maybe go to the Tampa Bay area, see some family... possibly hit Busch Gardens. We love Busch Gardens! My oldest ds used spend most of his summer at my moms in Naples and even had a BS season pass and did their summer camp every year. I think I heard something about GKTW having Busch Garden tickets?

Thank you! I loved their star and heart too, and so did they... at first Elliot refused to let them take it but I promised he could paint a heart (I bought a bag of them) so he gave in.

They didn't mention how long it would take, but I may have to call them back and adjust the dates I asked for because of a possible change in my work schedule. She did say the offices were closed today because of MLK day but she would turn in all the paperwork tomorrow!

Elliot's Wish Granter called me on Thursday because she was sending me a few forms that I have to have Trevor's bio dad sign so he could go too.

She also told me that they checked and there is availablity at GKTW during the time we want to go. They were going to begin looking at flight on Friday!!

She mailed me the forms for his dad and with it was a packet of info. In that packet were the "Top 22 FAQ." Within those Q&A's, they mentioned that our chapter does not provide transportation to or from the airport. Our airport is only about 20 minutes from our house so it isn't a big deal but we will not want to leave our truck at the airport that long. We are a family of 5 so it's going to be hard to ask someone to take us. I am going to have to figure out two people who can go get the truck and take it back home, plus do it again on our return day I guess.

Another part I am trying to figure out... I still have my 5 year old in a 5 point harnessed carseat, as well as my almost 3 year old. They are Radian 65's, which means they are FAA approved and they also fold flat for travel (or storage under airlplane seat) BUT they weigh around 22 pounds each! I really am not sure I want to travel with them. I don't think I'd want to put the kids IN the seats on the airplane... do people do this? My FAQ paperwork said the car rental people could provide a carseat and a booster but I am a little uneasy about that... first they have to be so germy, plus they might have been in accidents and I wouldn't know it. My husband thinks I overthink things too much and we need to just leave ours behind.

We own a double stroller (one with a seat in front and a "jumpseat" in back) and thought about bringing it, maybe even to push the carseats around the airport. But now I am thinking I'd rather have GKTW get us one from the rental place that is side by side and reclines in case someone wants to nap.

My 5 yo is in a five point harness at home but she will sit in just the airplane seat now, I feel comfortable with that. We are taking the magical express this weekend so no need for a car seat for her. But we are traveling to CA later this Spring and we will most definitely be bringing her seat as well as her little sisters seat to use while there (little sister will sit in her seat on the plane as well). I do not feel comfortably using a rental agencies seat, who knows what they might have available when you get to the counter or the possibility exists that they might not have any seats at all for you to use. I would try to find a way to bring your seats with you.

Thanks! I agree about the car rental seats... just doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies I still do not have confirmed dates, but she felt pretty good about the possibility of Spring Break being a reality. GKTW has availability, but they have to check on flight pricing and get back to me. Hopefully soon
