If a park hasn't hit 100% capacity, then why have they had their staggered tiered closings during Christmas/New Years weeks every year other than this past year. I'm an AP holder and have been shut out of MK on NYE day due to capacity by 10am. Not sure where you got your info, but they have hit capacity
They have had tiered closings, but they have not hit phase 4 (where nobody is allowed in) in a very long time. They usually push out a notification on MDE that the parks are at capacity and no longer accepting guests, but that is done even for phase A.
I'd say I'm adapting. I've been to WDW twice this year and going twice more. Still don't like the park rezzy system and probably never will. Then again, I disliked Happily Ever After when it first replaced Wishes and now I love it. So who knows?
I certainly understand that. As an in state, within an hour of WDW, platinum holder, I get very frustrated at times over how local ap holders are treated. I do believe as the capacity increases and the new AP system is brought online, they can adjust the number of days based on pass type. The benefits for ap holders is access to the parks , so limiting that makes you question the value. Other benefits are just gravy
Isn't this exactly why they aren't selling new AP's? Also, wasn't the reservation system in place already when people renewed? So it's not like you didn't know this was a possibility.
That's what I thought. So I don't understand the comments about being angry not getting to go whenever they want. If that was an issue, then why renew? And Disney knew people would buy them, knowing the deal about the reservations and still complain about said reservations, which is why they aren't selling any new ones. Those people ruin it for those of us who are cool with it, and would like to buy APs.
True. I renewed my AP after comparing cost of tickets for the times I knew I'd be going (peak dates w/peak cost). It ended up being more cost effective to just renew my AP. I'm not local, so don't have the option for last minute (potentially sold out) visits.
I had purchased my AP 2 years ago, I was going to "start" it last summer but then covid shut the parks down. So in fact I had purchased and paid for my AP before any of these changes occurred, so no I had no clue that what I paid for that pass would be not worth it when it came time that I was actually able to use the pass.
You didn't have to activate it tho.
Normally AP holders are the last to be shut out in the tier. I don't think it happened this past year but I am certain it happened since 2009. My birthday is Dec 28th, smack in the middle of Christmas and New Years. I have been shut out of the MK on my birthday as well as on NYE. I have never seen all 4 at capacity. There was always another park to go to.
