Elevator Distance

I am always amazed when I read these boards that SOOOOO many people complain about the LONG walk to the elevators from their hotel room.

You are probably leaving your room to go walk around a theme park all day! I can't believe that an extra 100 feet is going to make such a huge difference in your day.

It's not the walk TO the elevator when going to the park that gets bad. It's the walk FROM the elevator to the room that can be a killer -- especially after pounding WDW pavement from EE to park close, standing in line for a bus, standing on the bus, walking from the bus stop to the hotel, etc. Those last 100 feet can seem like MILES!

Until you've stayed at the room fartherst from the elevators in the BWI you are clueless. We've had it happen to us twice and it was miserable. It's not 100 feet from the elevators. It seems like a country mile. The rooms we stayed in were at the far end over what would be the TV wall in the ESPN Club.

I'm with you. I stayed in a room with a beautiful view of France right outside my balcony. I really didn't think it was that much of an issue. (just my opinion)

It's also a MAJOR pain if you forget something... like your sunglasses... or your camera... or your tickets.... or you just want to grab a sweater..... then that walk seems forever.

or how about in the morning if you just want to go grab a coffee at the food court to bring back to your room?

That is too funny about BWI. We stayed there in November, and I felt like I could literally reach out and touch the Eiffel Tower from our balcony. My DD was in a wheel chair(broken foot), and let me tell you, I built some muscles up pushing her to and from our room. I never understood the complaints about room distance, until then.......

I actually prefer to NOT be near the elevators...the end of a hallway is much quieter, and only an extra minutes walk.

Hey, Laurenk! Remember me from the BWI porch in the morning?
I loved the quiet mornings rocking on the porch w/cup of coffee!

I was very grateful that our room was closer to the elevator but let the assigner know that we were traveling with mother (70) requested to be closer.

This year it will be just daughter and I and we're going to CBR. GUess the resort itself is hugh so we'll hope for a good location.

It's that end of the day, just put one foot in front of the other, open the door and collapse, that makes convenient room a lifesaver!

I would much rather have a nice view and location and room type than be close to the elevators in the expensive Disney room I pay for. We had a room all the way at the end of the Zebra Trail at AKL and it was an awesome room with a great view and a larger balcony than most of the other rooms. I would absolutely hat to be near an elevator where there is more foot traffic and noise and such.

I just came back from the BWV and requested(and got)the room closest to the elevator. My DH said he heard the elevator a bit during the night, but I never heard it. I was glad to be close to my room when running around with a wet bathing suit on. I did take a walk down one of the hallways and even managed to take a wrong turn getting back to my room-had me panicked for a couple of seconds! I'm glad there are those that like the rooms away from the elevator 'cause it leaves the rooms close to the elevator for those of us that don't mind the little extra noise.

You probably DON'T have a clue about how annoying it is. Stay at the Boardwalk at the room at the end of the hall, at the end of that hall, at the end of that hall. Go downstairs a few times each day and need to return to the room, or heaven forbid realize you have left something when you have just gotten to the boat dock. Forget catching that next boat. Or need to go back to the room from the pool, or getting a cup of coffee, or going to the shops.

My family does not simply leave the room in the morning and return that night. It probably wouldn't be a big deal if that is what you always do. However, you could carry that logic (?) to say that it might be just as well if you stayed off-site (you would only have to make a short drive in the morning, then a short drive at night.)

I am a fast walker, but not everyone, particularly small children are. If it takes an extra five minutes of walking (NOT 100 feet!) every trip you make it gets tiresome. I would NEVER stay at BW in one of those rooms again.

We have the end-of-the-hall luck in our family....no matter where we stay we are at the end of the hall, farthest from the elevator We just think of it as closer to the fire exit LOL

Hi Hightown! Yes, I do remember meeting you! Even though we had a room located VERY far away from everything, BWI is still one of my favorites. I LOVE being in the EPCOT resort area.

I'm not complaining really either. I'm young and don't mind the walk. but, have you stayed at the end of one of those hallways at the Y&B club? can you say "hellooooooooooo"? lol
