Dollar.com is showing the following when I price a reservation:
Orlando - International Airport
Please note: There are toll roads within this area that have converted or will be converting to all-electronic tolling or cashless tolling. In these areas, there is no option for a rental car to stop and pay the tolls in cash. If your travels will take you on a toll road in an area where there is no option to stop and pay cash for the tolls, Pass24 is the perfect solution. If you choose not to select the Pass24 pre-paid tolling option and do travel on one of these all-electronic toll roads, and do not have your own tolling device in the vehicle, the applicable toll will be paid for you and an administrative fee of $25.00 will be added to each toll utilized.

Has anyone run into this?

Thanks!

This has come up before. The toll roads between the airport and WDW have cash booths. They are trying to scam people.

That is totally untrue for the Orlando area. I wonder how much money Dollar makes on this false statement.

Not trying to defend Dollar here, but if you read the statement carefully you'll find that everything they say is true.

The facts are that right now all the tolls in the Orlando area do have a cash option. However sometime in the future that may not be the case.

You are right that they are trying to encourage you to buy their overpriced (IMHO) service though.

How much are tolls from MCO to Disney? Any idea?

Depends on the route you take. If you take 417 there are two tolls before you get to exit 6 @ 1.25 each.
Not sure about the other route, but, I have been told there are two, one@ .75 and one @.50

There are NO tolls at this time in the Orlando International area that have converted, therefore, their statement is untrue as it pertains to what the OP posted. Sometime in the future, perhaps, but, right now that sometime in the future is years away. They don't expect the southern part of FL to be completed before 2013.
BUT, if you dig deeper on their site, it will show that Orlando is not in the group of all electronic tolls, but, that does NOT stop the agents at OIA from pushing this onto customers. It is an outrageous amount of money per day.

It said

A very open-ended statement but technically true.

I agree that their tactics are reprehensible, but there's no need to call them liars.

I honestly think no matter which rental co you use you put in MCO and that warning comes up lol

I think my issue of calling that false is the part that says they have converted in this area not the part about it being sometime in the unforseeable future. If they were saying that in a blanket statement about the entire state of FL it would be technically true, but, the OP quoted specifically for the Orlando area, hence my saying it is untrue, false and a lie.

A comment may come up, but, most definitely not as misleading as the one on the Dollar site and some certainly do not charge such an outrageous fee per day.

A simple solution to this is to own/carry your own Florida SunPass -- it's been a great little thing to have.

Also, Florida's tolling agencies have recently suggested they may soon be compatible with those systems that are currently compatible with EZ-Pass.

:) I do own one of those wonderful Sun Pass thingies. Where did you see that the FL tolling agencies may be compatable with the EZ pass system?
Interesting.

Interesting.

It was in an e-mail (dated 11/16/2011) to customers -- here's an excerpt:

SunPass Teams with Other Tolling Agencies
Florida's Turnpike Enterprise continues to explore the tolling frontier and how SunPass can be used in more places, and on more roads.

SunPass is diligently working toward developing partnerships with other tolling agencies to allow interoperable travel between more toll roads within and outside the State of Florida. This includes initiatives that would allow travel in the northeastern corridors in the United States and the E-ZPass system.

The tolling technologies between Florida and other states are not compatible with each other at this point in time. The effort is complex and involved as it requires working with multiple tolling agencies in various states. Thank you for your support and patience as we work to expand the services and geography that SunPass can take you.

Thanks for the info, that will teach me to opt out of emails. LOL

I don't understand why they didn't make their roads EZ-Pass compatible in the first place!

I just ordered a Mass. FastLane pass that is EZ-Pass compatible, so it can be done. In researching these things (I had to decide what state to buy it from) I found that the EZ-Pass works all up and down the east coast except for Fl

For one thing, FL has two different road systems and two different pass systems. I am hoping they merge soon. Sunpass gives you a discount on their roadways, unfortunately, the toll road I take daily is NOT under their roadway system.
