Due to the nostalgia factor, this is a must do for us in October. I'm planning on a Monday night and we have 6:50 reservations at Kona. Should be plenty of time?

My questions are - how packed does the viewing area at Poly get and how much time will we need to stake out a small spot for 4? Also, even though the Poly is listed as one of the best places to watch this, I get the feeling that those who stay at the resort don't care for non-guests watching there. Can anyone give me some insight on this? We're not the type of family that's going to commandeer anyone's private space or crash a roped-off area, just looking for a decent spot for the kiddos to watch.

You should have plenty of time. And watching on the beach should not be a problem. Just make sure you do not have those new bungalows in front of you. And if you are at the resort for anything, you are a guest also.

It's not the sort of thing that people stake out a spot for - you won't have a problem finding a place to watch it. Just find some place where you can see the lagoon.

Thank you, that puts my mind at ease a little bit. This is my first trip to WDW since we lost my grandfather and watching this parade with him was something we did together every visit when I was younger. Seems like watching the water pageant wouldn't be a big deal but I'd just like this one event to be as easy-going as possible.

Electric Water Pageant is a must do for us, too. I've always wanted to see it and in all my trips, never have. We are also planning to see it at the Poly. Is that the definitive place to see it? We'd picked it based solely on the time. GF would also be early in the schedule. Does it make a difference?

Since it loops Bay Lake and Seven Seas, any of those resorts work. I have mainly watched from FW, but have watched portions from CR and MK. I think if there are a lot trying to watch from Poly, it has more to do with waiting to watch the fireworks as well.
