What is a Disney lover to do who wants to see this magical event but is not staying onsite?

Is it possible to monorail to a resort to see the water parade, then monorail back to the parking lot to leave? (We are renting a car) Also, how much time after closing do we have till the monorails are not available.

On that note also... I would like to see some of the resorts while we are there. Is it possible to monorail to them and tour the lobbys? We have a hopper pass if that helps any.

Being that the parks close so early in Nov/Dec I thought this would give us something else to do besides hang out in Epcot. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. We have 2 adults and 3 kids, age 12, 11, and 9.

Thanks,

Yeah! 70 days to go!! :hyper: :hyper:

Sure you can. You can visit the hotels and check them out and go shopping in them.

And yes you can watch the water pageant, I don't see why not.

Not sure how long the monorails stop running after the parks close, about an hour maybe??

Sorry to jump in on your post here...

I'm just wondering when the Water Parades are and where are the best places to view it from?

Thanks,
Stacy

The Electrical Water Pageant is a nightly display that makes its circuit around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake for the Magic Kingdom area resorts.

Although the pageant generally follows the schedule below, check with the Guest Services Desk at your Magic Kingdom Resort for times during your stay. Inclement weather can cause cancellation of the pageant.

Polynesian Resort -- 9 p.m.
Grand Floridian -- 9:15 p.m.
Wilderness Lodge -- 9:35 p.m.
Fort Wilderness -- 9:45 p.m.
Contemporary Resort -- 10:05 p.m.
Magic Kingdom -- 10:20 p.m. (only during extended MK park
hours)

Note that when the Magic Kingdom Fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m., the Electrical Water Pageant runs about 7-20 minutes later.

This is not to be missed we stayed at contemporary one year and although it was the last resort visited I must have watched it 4 out of 7 nights very cool

Since you will have a car, have you considered going to WL and eating at WC or AP, then going out onto the beach to watch the show. Or our personal favorite way to see the pageant is to go to Trail's End and order a pizza around 45min. before show time. While someone waits for the pizza, the others can go to the waterfront to secure a table and chairs. Dinner and a show! :) If this is too late for your family to eat, you could always try Trail's End for dinner, then dessert during the show. I don't care much for buffets, but to me this is as good as any of the others, and cheaper. There's a whole lot of things to do at FW, to pass the time, before the pageant. FYI, you will need to park your car in the parking lot at the entrance to FW, then take the internal bus service, which is no problem. Have a great trip!

I think it's about an hour after whichever closing time is later: Epcot or Magic Kingdom. I was at Magic Kingdom when they had an early closing and the monorails were still running until 10:00 pm. I assumed it was for people who parked at TTC and took the monorail to Epcot.

We stumbled across the Electrical Water Pageant completely by accident. We had dinner at Narcoose's at the GF, though we were staying at a friend's condo off-site. We went out for a nice "romantic dinner" for our anniversary (the grandfolks had the kiddos) -- it very nice. Just as we walked out of the resaurant, the EWP went by. It was GREAT! We then lucked out and ended up watching MK fireworks (this was June 2003) alone on the GF beach. A PERFECT Anniversary night. . .

But, sorry about that. . . got a little carried away there with good Disney memories. . . yep, you can see the EWP even if you aren't staying at Disney. I'd recommend going to the GF pier by Narcoose's to watch the EWP. It'd be a great view!
