On our upcoming trip I would like to do some things that we always talk about but never do. The top two are visiting the Boardwalk and seeing the electric water parade. In the past, we have caught bits and pieces of the parade from a Disney bus or something like that, but I thought maybe we could plan to go to a MK resort and watch this on our arrival night as well as eat (most likely counter service) at the resort.

There is me and Dh and our DD who will be a couple of weeks shy of four. Which resort do you recommend for this? We have an ADR later I. The week for WCC and I thought about trying to get that for arrival day instead but I can't decide. Our flight lands at 3:05p and we are staying at CSR and this would be in September.

As the PP said the Electrical Water Pageant starts at Poly and ends at Contemporary (or MK if they have extended hours).

Here is info from: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm

The Electrical Water Pageant usually follows this schedule:

Disney's Polynesian Resort - 9:00 pm
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa - 9:15 pm
Disney's Wilderness Lodge - 9:35 pm
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground - 9:45 pm
Disney's Contemporary Resort - 10:05 pm
Magic Kingdom park - 10:20 pm (only during extended Magic Kingdom Park hours)

We like watching EWP from the dock of WL. If you're eating there, if you time it well, you can catch it after your meal at WCC - at WL you can watch it from the dock (waiting for a boat to MK or getting off a boat from MK) or from the beach.

Are the poly beaches affected by the construction? We did not have any plans at the Poly at all so I hadn't kept up with the construction information.

Are there any viewing areas that are restricted to that resorts guests only? Like places we need to stay away from?

1- Yes.

2- Nope.

3- Only the areas blocked-off for actual construction, and those areas
with views blocked by the new construction.

You can head over to the beach by Luau Cove (Aloha Dinner Theater) and view from there, or out to the Poly's shuttle boat dock, or head to TTC.

I don't have the areas of Poly DVC construction marked on the maps below,
but the eastern half of the "main" Poly beach (the one north of the "Hawaii" bldg.) is now blocked-off.

The main pool at the Poly is also going down for major work next week. There will be construction walls around it and there is some speculation that these walls may extend down to the beach (apparently they did last time the pool had major work).

Also, last December when we were at the Poly, we think because of the villa construction, rather that staying fully strung across the lagoon in front of the beach, with all of the barges lit up as the presentation went on (as normal), the first half of the barges went dark and pulled away before the end of the show. We wondered if there isn't enough room there now for all of the barges to be strung out across the Poly beach together because of the DVC stuff jutting out into the water :confused3

Just saying the Poly may not be the best place to watch it right now ... I'd scope out one of the other resorts maybe so you can hopefully get the full show!
