Electric or Gas Stove

Do you do more 'cooking' or more 'baking' And, is there already gas into the house. Can you tap into the gas line easily where the stove would have to go.

I LOVE to cook, don't really like to bake, and I am hoping against hope that my foolish electric stove will break so I can get the gas stove of my dreams. That being said, if you do a lot of complicated baking, it is harder to regulate the temperature in the oven, and the delicate pasties could suffer.

OK--done for now. Can you tell I have put quite a bit of thought into this?

I've had both Jodi, and I prefer electric. I have a fear of fire since I was a kid, and for some reason the flames on a gas stove bother me. I had a gas stove for many years in my former home, but switched to electric. I luckily have electric in my new condo and that suits me just fine. Of course, with a power outage, a gas stove can't be beat.

I have a gas stove, and hate electrics. I find it too hard to control electric stoves. At least with gas, when I turn it down or off, it is down or off immediately. I burn too much stuff on an electric. I also do not like the fact that when an electric burner is on low, you cannot tell if it is on.

I honestly love what my dad has... gas range top and electric oven. I have had both all electric and all gas and I cannot stand gas ovens so I am happy to have my electric stove and suffer with the electric burners.

I have a gas stove. I've never used an electric one, but I love how easy the glass tops look to clean!! My friend has the
gas burner/electric oven combo like Elaine's Dad & she loves it!

helenabear, that is my DREAM!!!! I am jealous.

OK--Everyone think bad thoughts for debster's oven to break. Kind of reverse PD. ;)

but I have an electric. I learned how to cook with a gas and I can control the temp better, but I live in an apartment. I also like a gas water heater.

I have gas now (oops, that doesn't sound right LOL), but have always had electric before. I'm not sure I have a strong preference, but perhaps I would if I had to go back to electric.

lol donna! :p

i've had gas stoves for the past 7 years, but i grew up with electric. although i enjoy cooking on gas stoves, they just make me nervous. i would prefer electric, i think.

Definately gas for me..............

Instant heat & no cool down period:)

helenabear, this is my dream!! I love gas for stove-top cooking, but it is horrible for baking. I didn't realize they made such a combination, how exciting.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

I grew up with electric, and always had it until we bought this house last march. When we did the kitchen over - I converted to an electric stove / oven. The Gas just scared the heck out of me, I would think the house was gonna blow up every time I turned on the stove LOL!

I never realized there was such a thing as a gas stove and electric oven! Now I want mine to break. I have electric, but I would prefer gas for the range. I like to be able to see the flame and adjust it accordingly. But I do a lot of baking, and I absolutely love the even cooking temperature in my oven.

I think that electric all over is good for beginning cooks. I learned how to cook on gas, but I never really knew what a low, medium, and high flame looked like. With electric, you just turn the dial to the correct word and you're fine.

I have a GE Profiles gas range that I love. I would never cook on an electric stove ever again, and have convinced all of my siblings, my mother and my MIL to convert to gas.

If I had it to do over again, or when this one breaks, I will get the Jennair gas stove top and convection oven. Not only is that an electric oven, but it has the fan in it to bake faster and more evenly.

Please no reverse PD for me. We're redoing the kitchen now and the only appliance that I'm salvaging is the stove because it is stainless steel and relatively new (maybe 4 yo.) Well, that's not true.. the old fridge is going to live in the basement tomorrow when the new one is delivered.

I grew up using electric and that's what I prefer. I had to use gas for the first 6 months we were married (in an apartment) and didn't like it at all.

I prefer a gas range. I get really upset when the electric goes out and I can't good/bake. I also prefer how the stove top cooks over the electric. We currently have electric because it came with the house, but if I replace I would get gas.
