Does anyone have one? Do you like it? Are they better than regular slicing/carving knives? Please share your opinions. TIA :sunny:

I love mine! I actually use it more than once a year. But let me warn you, I almost lost the tip of my pinky one early Christmas morning with it! They are so sharp...and even sharper when plugged in!! :furious: But I do love mine...it's a black and decker and was about $10 at wal-mart a couple of years ago.

I have been in restaurants / foodservice for years. If you own a good quality carving set nothing can compare. But for carving up the annual or more often turkeys I choose to use an electric knife. As with any carving be sure you are not going to be distracted with anything! (kids, pots left on the stove etc.)
I find it a good practice to let the bird rest about 15 - 20 minutes so that the breast does not flake apart due to the continued internal cooking going on. It will also allow some of the juices to come back into the bird making it more moist.

We got one for a wedding gift and while we don't use it all that often, it is GREAT to have. They are only about $10 and work great on turkey, whole chickens, etc.

I have one, and it works pretty good on turkey, chicken, ham, etc. But I also have a really good carving knife, and prefer to do it that way. However, where the electric knife really kicks hinder is on angel food cake. Cuts through like no body's business. Never squishes it. It also works great on fresh bread. This is where I’ve found the most benefit, by using it to cut squishy foods like that.

I like it for making thin slices out of left over turkey breast or roasts. I agree with other posters - you must wait the 15-20 minutes for the juices to reobsorbe into the meat. They are also great for cutting upolstery foam.

I use mine alot because I can quickly cut the meat for the kiddos into bite size pieces...I used it for dicing up cooked meat for casseroles too.

My electric knife was a wedding present 35 years ago. Can anyone guess what color it is? Avacado green :teeth:

We probably only use it 3-4 times a year. Really should remember to use it more often.

I used mine last night because of this post. I used it on a loaf of Italian Bread(fresh), and was able to get many nice thin slices...instead of the inch blocks I usually manage with the bread knife. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I love mine for bread! When I use the bread knife, my slices are much thicker, and not nearly as tidy.

It did have a trigger underneath, however that hurt (arthritis) to hold for a long amt. of time. So make sure it is comfortable to use.

Also use regularly for roasts, etc.

So, I bought one today. :woohoo: I will use it in two weeks! ;)
