I can't wait until election day has come and gone. I'm tired of all the commercials. It's starting to get ridiculous!

Yep! We are getting TN, VA, and NC ads here.

I can deal with the ads as I can mute or change the channel quite easily. It's the phone calls that are getting on my nerves. I mean, really... calling me everyday or so is having the opposite effect then you want. Now I really don't want to vote for you.

Meaning, don't make it a political thread. I just wanted to comment on how tired I am of all the commercials.

I too keep getting the phone calls. I tell them I have kids in the tub and I can't talk right now.

When I get those political calls, I tell them I am going to vote for the one who calls the least and that their candidate has called a lot more than the other person. They usually don't know what to say after that.

I live in a tri-state area. I get ads from NJ, NY, PA and Delaware. Luckily I'm not a big tv watcher so it's been a pleasure to turn it off.

I'm so glad I DVR all my shows, I can just FF right through all those anoying ads. Unfortuneatly my DH's union gave out our home number so we're getting some robo-calls, ugh!

But I did get a call from a pollster and I got to participate in a poll for the first time, which was pretty cool! Didn't have to talk to anyone, just pressed numbers to indicate my answer.

LOL...you must live in the Tri-Cities! That was always the biggest complaint from my grandparents that lived in Johnson City.

But yeah...really, really tired of them. The 'clean ones' are okay...but the nasty personal digs...I really can't stand them. My DS is 9, and has begun asking me about some of the commercials. I am *trying* to use this as an oppurtunity to educate him on politics...

God bless the DVR! I no longer watch live TV and probably won't until after these elections are over. I see very few commercials now.

In the UK there is a defined period for campaigning. We could really use that in IL--more than half the TV ads are political. I could take it if it was for example a defined month of campaigning, but it seems like it has been going on forever.

For some reason we get the door knockers more than the telephone calls. I get at least two people a week stopping by to tell me why their candidate is the best. I need to dig a moat! (and fill it with hungry animals)

Someone telling me why I should vote for their candidate as opposed to why I should not vote for their opponent would be a much welcome change.

Yeah, we get it Dawn. You are a deep Conservative and you like talking about politics as they relate to you and/or your party. Got it.

However, since discussing political candidates, political parties or political agendas on the DIS is forbidden, and since this thread is about the TV commercials and how sick we all are of seeing them, you might want to lighten up on how happy you are over whatever is happening with your particular party in your particular part of the country. I'm kind of enjoying the discussion about how everyone is dealing with the non-stop political ads and I'd hate to see this thread closed because it became a topic of political debate.

As for me, while I can zap the commercials with my DVR, I AM getting a bit sick of the local news doing sound byte interviews with any political candidate or political advisor and I'm zapping my way through the local news now. A few nights ago I found myself actually talking back to the TV when the politico who's reporting the Gubernatorial race wrapped up another one of his attempts at drama with this gem:

"These political advisors are divided in their opinions of whether or not Virg Bernaro will be another John Engler comeback story. Obviously one of them will be wrong come election day. Back to you, Jane."

WELL DUH!! Of COURSE one of them will be wrong, you moron. There is only one outcome to the Gubernaturial election: Virg Bernaro will win or Virg Bernaro will lose. Of COURSE the people you "interviewed" are divided in their opinions; you interviewed a democrat and a republican. What did you expect would happen, putz?

I hate political commercials. But I hate more putting the same commercial agenda on the news and calling it new. It's just free advertising.

LOL! Hear Hear OP! It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't all so ridiculous and mean. One parties commercials thinks all the people they are trying to reach are backwards 90 year old bumpkins rocking on their porches and ranting, and the other party is apparently only trying to reach minorities. I guess none of them are trying to reach ME! Plus they're alllll SOOOOOOOOOOOO LOUD! We DVR all of our evening shows so we can just fast forward. But, in the afternoons when I am home cleaning and cooking, I just put it on TBS so I can watch Raymond, King of Queens, Friends, and the Office, and it's just one political ad after another and I can't zip through them unfortunately, and am usually nowhere near the remote to mute them!
