Anyone have any info how the Universal parks and resorts made out? Any reports of damage?

I would also like to know this answer. We are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday for our first trip there!

Hi all, we rode out the hurricane on the 7th floor of the Royal Pacific last night. What an interesting experience watching the Universal staff batten down the hatches before the storm arrived.

This morning both parks reopened, but several attractions were not operating including Bilge Rat Barges, Jurassic River Adventure, Jurassic amber mine playground, Unicorn coaster, Pterdon Flyers, at IoA; and Jaws and Twister at US.

Debris and high water were the cause of the delayed opening this morning. Staff expected everything to be cleaned up and reopened by this afternoon.

We went to IoA Friday morning before the storm and it was eerie. At 9 a.m. there was no one there. It felt like the park was opened just for us. We rode in the front of Dueling Dragons with no one behind us. More people arrived for the morning hours as it became apparent that the storm wasn't going to arrive until around 8 p.m.

Thanks for the update, CDisney. It's nice to hear "officially" from someone who's there.

Reporting in from the 3rd floor of the Royal Pacific

basically no damage - lots of leaves, palm fonds etc down,

the parks and resort are running pretty good considering they are prbably a little short staffed

Reporting from the 5th floor at PBH. A lot of trees up-rooted and at funny angles, espescially on walk way from the hotel to parks. Also a lot of debris floating in water of the lakes.
Also, driving around, still alot of traffic lights out and a lot of signs (business and traffic signs) down.

Thank you guys for taking the time to let us know how you and the parks are making out. I'm glad you are all safe and things there seem to be getting back to normal. Wish that were true everywhere in Florida!

At RPR did the plane blow out of the lagoon or did staff drag it on land?

The staff left the plane where it was and as of this morning, the plane is still sitting the "other way" and half sunk

I remember being at WDW on our first trip a few years back. As we were walking over to the Contemporary garden wing, we saw them taking all the little speed boats out of the water. My first thought was "wow, they take them out every night" We were on the 1st floor w/slider to a patio. Woke up the next morning and couldn't even see out the glass for all the leaves and junk stuck to it!!! THEN we found out a hurricane had gone through. Have since paid closer attention to county names when we travel ;)
Hope they can replant some of the palms around RPR....they were originally brought in and planted after being uprooted somewhere else during a hurricane. That's why some of them are already growing at odd angles.

The palm trees in Suess' Landing are from Hurricane Andrew. I have 2 palm trees that took a turn (lean) with Andrew and now they are bent the other way. I like them. They have character. I didn't see many uprooted trees at RPR but I had to stop and take a photo of the plane.
