Educate me - please

I am taking my niece to WDW for the for time in September. We currently have a reservation at the Contemporary hotel in September. I was talking to someone today who told me about the DVC. Can someone educate me more on how many points I would need for two nights? What hotels are options....I see them abbreviated, but am not up on the hotel lingo! Any information is much appreciated as I have heard I can save quite a bit by going this route. Just need schooled on the process!!

If you are talking about renting points from a DVC member, you can check out the rent trade board on this site to see if anyone has points available for that time.

The resorts would be:
Bay Lake Tower (at the Contemporary)
Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas
Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa
Beach Club Villas
Villas Wilderness Lodge
Boardwalk Villas
Old Key West

How many points depends on WHICH resort. Sunday through Thursday nights will cost less points than Friday or Saturday night. If you give a little more information, we could help more.

BLT would be anywhere from 32 to 44 points depending on room category.
AKV would be 24-40 points depending on category.
SSR would be 30 points.
BCV would be 32 points.
VWL would be 32 points.
BWV would be 26-32 points depending on category.
OKW would be 26 points.

This is assuming you want a studio room only.

Standard and MK view are the hardest to get at this resort.
LV is a little easier, more of it than the rest.

My niece is turning 8 the week before we get there, so this is her birthday present. She is SUPER excited and we just want to ensure that all goes well for the trip!
