I know this is a public message board and most people wouldn't trust a random stranger on the internet, but...

I'm thinking of just going to the urgent care or er, but I wanted to get some opinions first because I'm one of those people who will go to the doctor too fast, and I don't want to be the loser who goes to the er because of gas.

I woke up this morning with some nausea, it went away shortly I took a shower, walked the dogs and went to the airport to pick up my husband, while at the airport the nausea returned, but I was also having a small anxiety attack. That went away shortly also, in the car on the way home I started to have stomach pain, all on the left side, and across the bottom of my pelvis. It's dull achy pain and its constant for the most part. Everytime I burp or pass gas I get a moment of relief, otherwise its right back to the pain. I can't really get in a comfortable position laying down, and a hot bath is temporary relief. Other than the pain, and now a soreness across the bottom of my belly and it kind of feels like I'm very bloated, I have no other symptoms. Friday afternoon and yesterday my stomach was very noisy and rumbly, but I was constantly hungry and today I even ate a roast beef sandwich shortly after the pain started. The pain is maybe a 6 and its aggravating since I can't get relief or comfot.

Am I a loser to go to urgent care or the er? Has anyone had trapped gas, did it sound similar? Anyone have any advice or home relief they can offer? Urgent care is only open until 9 so if it hasn't let up but 7:45 I think I'm just going to go.

Thanks in advance.

edit*** good thing i acted like a loser and went. I'm now speaking to you as an inpatient and minus my apppendix which burst when as they removed it. :headache:

It doesn't sound like an ER visit to me. Do you have a fever? any other GI symptoms?

Have you tried anything? Maalox, tums, rolaids? Pepto Bismal ? anything?
Sounds like you ate something very heavy and hard to digest and it didn't get any worse?

I would try something over the counter and give your stomach a rest don't eat any more heavy food, just some liquids -no dairy- and jello or crackers, and wait and see how you are tomorrow.

I have similar symptoms when I have an ovarian cyst that pops.
The fluid in my abd causes inflammation which gives me similar symptoms.

You might could wait until tomorrow
If you are in agony though and you can afford it maybe you would be happier going to the ER?
There will be a wait most likely

I would personally just wait until tomorrow and call your own doctor. In the ER, you are going to be waiting...a looonnnng time.

The last time I was in the ER, I was taken immediately back because of what was wrong but the wait for anything non-emergent was 3 1/2 hours.

Unless you have other symptoms (such as fever, GI symptoms, vomitting, etc) or the pain is so bad that you cant move, I would stay away from the ER.

Do you have to go to the bathroom? It sounds like you may be ummm, stopped up. :)

No matter what it is, I'm sure you're miserable. I hope you're feeling better soon. :goodvibes

Try taking a walk-that is what we had to do in the hospital after a C-Section to get things moving out, so to speak.

I was gonna say last night it didn't sound like trapped gas...wow

Glad you went!!

And here I was going to say to go in in case it was a gall bladder attack.

Glad you went! We should all learn to trust our instincts.

I kinow it sounds dumb now, since we know she had appendicitis, but I was going to tell you to go...My DH had an atypical presentation of appendicitis similar to what you described. Not everyone gets the fever, nausea, doubled over pain that you see on TV!

This time I wish the Dis doctors had been right. Hope you get to feeling better! :goodvibes

Wow--

every now and then something that makes you feel like a hypochondriac turns out to be extremely serious. I'm glad you went in, OP and wish you a speedy recovery. (ETA: I'm not calling you a hypochondriac, I don't want to give you the wrong idea.)

Glad you went, OP. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Glad you went ahead and got medical care. I would have never thought of it being your appendix. I always thought if it was your appendix, your right side hurt. Learn something new everyday. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

I saw this when you posted it last evening, and I was thinking you should go, but I didn't have a chance to get back and post.
my psa of the day :)
this is a perfect example of the danger of asking for advice on a message board.
abdominal symptoms are tricky, they can be just nothing or they can be something quite serious.
always always trust your gut instinct, never feel like you would be a bother for getting checked out.
glad you went and things will be fine:)
