Edinburgh to Orlando - our 18 day trip! We are here!!!!!!

That is soooo cute!

Ok, see I'm a freak because I actually like rainy days. Where am I moving to, sunny Florida.

Rainy days in Florida at least have warm rain. Its cold rain here and I hate it! But not even rainy days could spoil a day at the parks. I love popping on my mac and getting on with it! I have very fond memories of my grandfather (who is no longer with us) encouraging us to dance in the rain through Epcot when I was about 9 or 10. We sang "singing in the rain" - the photos still make me smile!

What a great memory! Never got to experience a park with any of my Grandparents, but have lots of other fond memories.

That is such a great memory! I wish I had some like that...But that is why I take my kids. Hopefully they will remember times like that someday.

You are right, though. Somehow, a rainy day at Disney is still a great day!:thumbsup2

Ok so it has really started. I have just had a call from my Mum and dad from Publix (!!!) to say they have arrived safely. They picked up the car with no problems and have already put their stuff in the villa. He says it is very hot and humid. The thought of them being there makes me v excited for our trip! Not long now.........

On a bad note I am hating Virgin Atlantic!!! We prebooked our seats with them 290ish days ago and we booked row 32 - the 4 seats across the middle - there and back. We checked and they have moved us to row 64 - the next to last back row of the plane next to the loos! How rude!
Anyway I threw a major tantrum on the phone and they can't move us back. We have to try to change them back at check-in as noone is actually in our seats - they are holding them back to be released on the day! I did point out that they have already been released but got some rubbish excuse as to why they have changed them - operational changes I think - god knows what they are.
They also have changed the time of our internal transfer from Edinburgh because the flight was cancelled. That is understandable but what is a total pain is that they didn't think to tell us. Good job we checked the fine print today or we would have got to the airport at the wrong time.
Last time we flew with them - despite ordering one - they did not have a childs meal for DD so she ate nothing as didn't want the adult one. They probably gave it to someone else who had forgotten to request one! If that happens again it will be the straw that breaks the camels back!

So all in all seriously thinking of using BA next year. Virgin have a lot of making up to do!!!!!

On a lighter note we are tidying and packing with a vengence. We have decided not to go to the Christening on Sunday as it is too far to go when we have such a lot to do. We will catch up with those friends when we get home.

Tomorrow we are off to my brothers house for a 30th birthday BBQ! Weather is due to be good - sunny but about 64 degrees which for here is roasty toasty!!!! Enough to get me sunburnt anyway so will need to put plenty of block on. That is after getting both DDs haircut and DD6 to a party. TAXI anyone??????????

So all packed and ready to go! (well almost!)

Still not loving Virgin Holidays but that is a story for another day!

Have our laptop packed so will try to come on and update as I go along. Hope everyone with trips coming up have an amazing time!!!!

Bon Voyage!!!

Hi! Just got on tonight and was happy to see that you posted! I wish my trip was as close as yours, but it will be soon enough :hyper:

jm, have a great trip!

Glad to hear that your mum and dad made it safe. I've heard from other friends in Orlando that it has been hot lately.

I'm really sorry to hear that you are having such a problem with Virgin Airlines. That is what we flew to London and back and we really loved it. On the way home, we had the very last row- 4 seats across. No one was in the back of us kicking or hitting us. And there was alot of leg room in our row- more than the other rows. I do hope that you get it worked out, though. That really stinks that they switched you. I would be upset if I were you also. Crossing my fingers that they upgrade you or something nice to make up!
Have a good, safe trip over the pond! Look forward to hearing more!

The day has finally arrived!!!

We got to Edinburgh in plenty of time and checked our bags straight through to Orlando which was great as we didn’t have to wait for our bags to do Twilight Check-in at Gatwick as we had already done it online. We gave the girls something to eat at the airport and by the time they were finished it was time to go. Flight was fine – DD2 was a bit upset during take off and landing but all in all not too bad.

Found out at Gatwick that the plane in the morning was due to be half full hence the reason we were moved around so much. Dinner at the Hilton was great and our room was huge and comfortable. DD2 and DD6 were amazed by the bidet and enjoyed hiding in the huge cupboard! :rotfl:

In the morning our flight was delayed by 3 hours so we had a long wait in the departure lounge which was less than ideal. :( Eventually we got on the flight and DD2 fell asleep straight away – before the wheels left the ground. 8 hours passed and we were all still in good humour but desperate to get off the plane. Mum and Dad met us at the airport and we were off!

We decided to go via Downtown Disney in order to validate my annual pass to save time in the morning. It was lovely to get a wee taste of what was to come. Downtown Disney is a lovely place with so much going on. :tinker:

So it was back to the villa , unpack the PJs and to bed. We hoped the girls would not get up too early with the time difference………………………………….

You made it! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Have a great time!

:cool1: Sounds like our flight, except ours wasn't near as long!!!

Enjoy your trip and maybe we will see you here!
