the Jim Morrison thread made me think of this movie. When I was in jr.high this was on seemingly 4x a day on cable which was also a new thing for us then. I loved this movie and the soundtrack and now have it on dvd.

I loved that movie too, I was just asking DH about it a week or so ago. I didn't know it was on DVD, I will keep an eye out for it now that I know! Thanks :thumbsup2 Can you still buy the soundtrack as well?

They are from Rhode Island right near where I live. Actually saw them one New Year's Eve

We all thought this movie was cool because it was set in our area. My best friend's sister was a bartender at that bar (Tony Marts). I think I still have the tape of the soundtrack somewhere!

I remember that! I loved the music (really done by John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band...haha). Part 2 was terrible, though, IMHO.

Yep I live near where Tony Mart's was. I went there once when I was in hs but this was shortly before they closed and after all the good acts were gone.

We were talking about this movie and Michael Pare just the other day on another thread.

The song "Dark side" has been in my brain ever since!

The Beaver Brown Band played at our Country Fair last Aug. so DH arranged for his mom to watch the kids and he took me! :cool1:

The first one is good...the second one not so good.

My DH loves both movies and has both on DVD and also the soundtrack. :rolleyes1 :teeth:

1st movie was good and the soundtrack is great. The second movie is cheesy but if you were a fan of the 1st you had to watch the second. IT does have some great shots of Montreal though.

I remember seeing them at "The Edge" in Pawtucket when they were just starting out....way back when. :rotfl:

This film must have a cult following. I watched it no less than 20 times growing up. I have every lyric to those songs memorized. But no one I know in real life has ever heard of that movie!

I think we all watched it so much because one of the cable channels aired it continuously when most folks were first getting cable. It's such a good, cheesy movie. I even watched the second one a couple times.

I remember in the early days we had Spotlight which I think is now Showtime. Was that the channel?

HoneyPooh & Tiggeroo - same here! I live just minutes away from where it took place. LOVED that movie!!

yay to all you Jersey girls. I don't know what channel it was on. It was just on all the time in the early 80's.

My sister bought it when it came out on DVD.... we loved it then and we love it now .

Do you remember part 2 it just was not as good : (

I love the S. Jersey connection as well.

My former BIL stated that exterior shots were filmed at RV (Rancocas Valley High School) in the early 80's.

I remember watching that movie millions of times growing up. I don't think I saw the 2nd one though.
