I'm traveling with a total of 10 family members and we are renting one ECV we are staying at the POR and have 5 people in each room so we have to stay in Alligator Bayou which does not have elevators so I requested first floor but they advised it was not guaranteed so I need to know how heavy is an ECV if we need to carry it up a flight of stairs does anyone know? Can these be broken down into smaller parts so as not to be as heavy?

I know 5 people in a room with an ECV will be sooo crowded but we have come to the conclusion we have to have one we have 3 of us that cannot walk long distances due to various reasons and will share the one ECV.

Since we dont use an ECV at home how long does the battery charge last at one of the online vendors it says it will go 20miles is that enough for a full 12hrs of park time?

Also if it says it will hold up to 250lbs and that is the heaviest of one of us will it still run the full 20miles? I dont want to get the heavy duty for the extra expense unless the smaller wont last for us.

Thanks for all your help!

Did you tell them at reservations that you will have an ECV? They can put the request thru to special reservations and you will get a 1st floor.

The rental ECVs generally abgout 140 pounds including seat and battery packs. The heaviest pieces weigh about 40 pounds. The rooms at PO are 314 sq ft including the bathroom and dressing area. My ECV takes up about 7 sq ft. With five in a room and an ECV you will be very crowded.

Have you looked into the possibility of getting three rooms at a value resort, which would then give you 780 sq ft and three bathrooms? And all those building do have elevators.

A normal ECV will go about 20-25 miles at full weight at full speed. Most people at WDW go between 6-10 miles per day, so there is no need to worry about running out of power.

The phone number for special (medical) reservations is 407-939-7807. They can get your record appended to say that the first floor room is a "Medical Necessity".

Thanks so much I called that number and he was able to talk to the manager at POR and they will now guarantee us a ground floor room. I know it will be really crowded but we will just have to deal with it. We have had to make several changes and we are sticking with what we have now, we already have our ME tags and everything so we will go and just have fun no matter how cramped we are. It is disneyworld after all and I will be in a good mood and have fun. :cool1:
