If we add one day QSDP to our reservation it will cost $117 (3adult/1child)

So, for this we get, if I'm right:

4 refillable mugs
8 CS meals
8 snacks.

With mugs at $14 each & snacks at a conservative average of $3 each this alone comes to $80.
Surely 6 adult CS meals & 2 child CS meals will be a fair bit more than $37, think this might be a bargain!;)

That was my theory too. If DVC continues to allow us to pick and choose which days we want the dining plan, we may always get the QSP our first day. At least for one day it really works well.

The price of the mugs for just one day really does not benefit you. The mugs are good for longer stays. Technically your mug would only be good for those days you are on the plan. Plus your meals would expire on midnight of the second day.

But for some, like me, two CS meals and 2 snacks over 2 days is just about the right amount of food. I would not need much more than that.

As far as the mugs, they are good for the length of stay.

For two days and one night you will get the most value from any DDP options, esp the QS option. Still, the value depends on how you use it. If you stretch the meals over the full 2 days and use it for the more expensive options, you could make out like a bandit. Don't forget you can still share meals and use snack options for sides, drinks, etc. in many situations.

Sign says in 2011 clearly the mugs are for the length of your current stay...therefore they are valid for all days until you leave the resort and many people believe the new signage now points to a duration of your stay at the WDW resort no matter how many resorts you hop to.....

Assuming you're staying longer, buying the QSDP for only one day is definitely a bargain. We're doing the same thing for our arrival day and planned on buying mugs for everyone anyways so we look at it like we're getting a big discount on the snacks and CS meals. The mugs alone have a higher retail than what we're paying for our kids plans.

if you get the mugs as part of a dining plan, are they good for length of stay or are they good for the length of the plan. :confused3

Before segmentation was allowed, the length of the dining plan and length of stay would be the same. However now that DVC will allow segmentation I don't know whether mugs are for length of plan or length of stay, since that now can be different.

Last year, we had Blt standard for 1 or 2 nights followed by a lake view for a week. We did the quick service dining plan for the first part and thought it worked out great.

I don't think they have a way to separate the 2 at present so I would expect they would be good "LOS". I guess the issue is that technically in this case, LOS is 1 night.
