So... I was on Oriental Trading placing an order for party favors for DD's upcoming birthday party, when it suddenly occurred to me that instead of stressing myself out over the FE gifts, I could just order some knick knacks for the kids:rolleyes1. So I just doubled the order and called it done. I hope the kids are not expecting much... I meant to make these cute bracelets I saw on the homemade FE gift thread, even bought all the components/parts for them, but every time I look at them I just start stressing out:scared1:. How do you all manage real life with this vacation stuff?

For those of you on the East Coast, stay dry and safe!

Socababy - I hope you made it through yesterday okay:grouphug:.

I am scheduled to head for Plattsburgh on Saturday (via Montreal) and I am seriously considering rescheduling. What do you recommend? My family is very sad to think I might not be coming, but I am thinking this is a bad idea!

By Saturday, you should be fine. Too bad we couldn't have a meet!

We are sitting here also waiting to see what Hurricane Sandy is going to do. We came down from Canada to New Jersey on Saturday to stay with my cousin and her family as her husband had to leave for Germany on Saturday for business. People think that we are crazy for coming down but family comes first. They needed us and we came. Besides, most people knew I was crazy already...:lmao:
We are as prepared as we can. Now it is just a waiting game.
To all in the same predicament, stay safe and well.:grouphug:

Hmm. I might have invited them to Ontario instead!!!!!

No expectations! They're just excited to get stuff, in my experience. How do we manage? Not everyone is as busy - Old lady here LOOKS for stuff to make the time pass faster:rotfl2:

I'm sitting here in my living room with the storm raging outside. The wind is incredible! Once in a while we get a huge burst of rain, but the real problem right now is wind.. We still have power which amazes me because our power goes out for no reason at all! I'll be glad when this is over. I feel very bad for the emergency responders today. I have a police scanner and heard a call for an officer to go and rescue a poodle which had been blown from its porch. The dog was rescued and is fine, and the responding officer was writing a summons for the owner. I wonder if you get get arrested for being grossly stupid?

On that note, our governor, Chris Christie, has said that "If it looks stupid it is stupid!". For once I agree with him.

Stay safe and use some common sense!

I have only recently discovered Oriental Trading and I think my son would be quite enamoured with LOTS of stuff from them.

Chris Christie makes me laugh.

We still have power here in New Castle County, DE which is great because the battery back-up sump pump we ordered didn't arrive in time and our pit is def. taking in tons of water. The wind isn't to bad here but the rain is. There is a driving ban in DE starting at 5am this morning but my office was of course, open. Go figure...

Luke and Lucie love stuff from Oriental Trading! You will make those two very happy.

On FE Gifts - My toddler daughter finds a battery or single bead super exciting, so remember kids (and big kids like me) can appreciate the simple things in life!

On Sandy - been watching the storm as it's coming in and hoping everyone stays inside and be safe, hang in there!!

Take care everyone who is affected by this storm. It seems that tonight will be the worse part for many areas. Take care. Sherry

And we just lost power..wish us luck! We will be hand bailing the basement

Gosh - I hope it is not as bad as expected for everyone. I am thinking of everyone in the impact area and checking the news constantly. Stay safe and dry! :scared:

Earlier there was a post about a child who is coming with Sensory Processing Disorder or Sensory Integration Disorder. I am new to this whole forum thing and can't figure out how to do this any other way and I have not posted enough to do a PM.
What I do know is my son has SPD and has gone through therapy since March. LOVE his therapist! I was told recently that Disney will take notes from a doctor or therapist for kids with Autism and so I asked our therapist about this. She said she has heard of it and has done it before. This last Thursday we received our note on letterhead from our office. It mostly states that we would prefer to do the drill inside as the loud noises will bother our son. I talked to a great rep on the phone the other day and she gave me an email address to send it to and to also write in the body of an email any needs the club may need to know about. Such as if he needs to wear a compression vest, do brushing/compressions, modified music etc. The email you send your letter to is SpecialServicesatdisneycruisedotcom

You can contact me on facebook on our groups page.

We bought our FE stuff from Oriental Trading, as well. And here I thought we were being so original!

Good luck to everyone dealing with Sandy. We had a debate at work today about which is scarier -- earthquakes vs. mega-storms. My vote was for mega-storms. Earthquakes are over in a minute or two; mega-storms are relentless. I guess it's academic since last I checked nature doesn't take requests. In either event, stay dry -- our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Hope everyone along the coast is safe. Weather not too bad here. High wind warnings with gusts up to 100K, but rain is not too bad, I think we are forecasted for about another 30mm of rain over the next 24 hrs.

Last night, we lost power around 5:00 and not sure when it came back on. I went to bed after 9:00 because I was getting colder and colder and going through DISBOARD withdrawal. Biggest problem was, I almost locked myself out of the house. Silly me, I do not carry keys to the house with me and use the electric garage door opener. Thank goodness DS was home.

Yesterday morning, DH had to take his parents to the Buffalo airport to leave for Florida. On his return home, the storm was chasing him. It was good timing because the weather can get very windy on a good day in the Niagara region.

Well we made it through Sandy - didn't lose power and all our trees are still upright in our area. Lots of leaves on the ground and some minor flooding, but nothing too bad. Still calling for rain and wind gusts today, but I think the worst is behind us. DD's are getting buggy being trapped in the house, so hopefully they can get out today.

I hope everyone who was in the storm's path is safe and didn't have too many problems and that power is resotred quickly.

Keep your fingers crossed for trick or treat tomorrow - they cancelled our local parade yesterday and if they cancel trick or treat my DD won't be a happy camper :(

Finished up my scrapbook exchange items yesterday - can't wait to see everyone's creativity!

Have a "WONDER"ful day!

Tammy

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Holding warm thoughts for the safety of Beth, WVURunner and others in harms way from the storm.

Here in upstate NY, so far, it's been a total non-event. We haven't lost power, or even very many leaves. Now that it's hit NYC, all the news seems to be about that, and not where the storm is going next - so we may or may not get more weather.

Today, I'm going to finish my scrapbook swap items, and put all my page idea iterations on one sheet in MSWord. Finish my holiday letter and send it to Staples to print. That's it. If those get accomplished, it will have been a good day :)

Hope your day is SAFE and pleasant.

We kept power the whole time - Yay! Did lose a 25' leyland cypress out back but it fell away from the house!! Lots of road closures around so staying put until all is back in order.

Glad to hear that so far everyone in the East has weathered this storm well.

FIY, Southwest just announced some $79 fares. I was able to save around 2800 pts by rebooking from here to LA :thumbsup2 It did nothing for my flight out of Orlando though.

I'm so glad everyone is okay so far. I hope and pray it stays that way.

I just learned that my son is on the East Coast in support of Sandy. He is in the California Air National Guard in Northern CA. I hope he's not needed because that would mean everyone is safe.

Tonight my son that I'm staying with while my back is healing is going to storage to get my cruise boxes. Since there's no room on the sailboat for anything non essential we have a small storage unit near my son. I have a tote with a lot of items from the WBPC in Jan 2011. I know I have all the Navigators. A While back someone was asking if anyone had them but I can't remember why. If you were looking for something in particular let me know and I'll see if it's there.

I'm glad all you scrappers are getting your items done. I am so sorry I couldn't participate but I am still laying down most of the time and that is not the easiest way to scrap. I would love to see your designs. While living on the boat I rented a space at the marina that was 12 feet by 43 feet just for my hobbies. It was filled with scrapping items. I would go to CHA every year with my friend who teaches in the industry and they give away so much free stuff. I won a Cricuit before they were distributed. It had to have been one of the first because it was slightly different from the model that went on sale.

Sorry I'm rambling now. I'm bored. My DH is at sea, my sons are at work and my son's dog just ate my Little Mermaid pin that I got on the Mexican Rivera cruise.

Enjoy your day and stay dry and safe! Think :beach::beach::beach:

Thanks everyone for your kind words. So hard to believe it has been 4 years. Everyday is hard without him but the actual anniversary is just a huge reminder that he is not coming back. I'll be grateful when this month ends as I am not a fan of Halloween. I can't help but remember that horrible feeling of having to take my 5, 3, and 1 year old out trick or treating just 3 days after their dad died as if nothing had happened. It was horrible and I am reminded of that every year.

On a happier note, once Halloween passes, we can finally saw we will be on this cruise next month. Judy, if you get a hold of your navigators, I'd love to know if their is a lecture my 9 year old could go to or were they all adults only.

Hi Judy:

I was wondering how you possibly did scrapbooking when you live on a boat, now I know. My craft space has now taken over two rooms. I don't know what I will do one day when hubby says its time to downsize to a smaller house. I am so sorry that you hurt your back. My husband has back issues at times and it can be very painful. I hope that you will be able to enjoy this vacation without the burden of chronic pain weighing you down both physically and emotionally. It must really suck (for lack of a better word) to be land-locked, flat on your back when you would rather be sailing with your husband. Hopefully you will be able to join our scrapbook group on board. Don't worry, I made a page swap for you for when you have recovered.

Oh, and I hope the Mermaid pin makes a reappearance but I don't envy you the recovery procedure!!:lmao:

I know I have all the Navigators.... If you were looking for something in particular let me know and I'll see if it's there. Judy

I watched some of the storm coverage and am thankful you are all okay.

Judy, I'm curious about the when the time changes are made on the EBPC. Would your WBPC help with answering that question?
