Today I will work on our stocking FE. I guess I'll hang a tote bag or something behind it for people to put things that don't fit in the stocking? What are others who are using stockings planning on doing? Although, I think anything that would fit in a traditional FE will fit in our stocking, it's more about quantity...if several deliveries showed up at once, etc.
Well, we are not using a stocking, but a "letter holder" from Bed Bath and Beyond. It appears to be around the same size and pocket depth as the fish extenders, but I also worried about larger items. I heard if there are too many/too large, people often leave them against the door, or find the room steward to put them into the room for them
I think our final travel detail of choosing an airport parking place is settled, so that's that. DH doesn't really want the car sitting there for 2 weeks, so we were thinking of paying a friend to drive us and our car to the airport, then bring it back and park it in our garage. The only problem is that return on the 23rd....should we be delayed, I do not want to ruin another family's Christmas because they had to come and get us. So, covered airport parking it is! Now I just need to re-confirm stuff and print things out.
We are renting a car and driving to LA, then flying back to SF, so even though I would have left our car for the 2 weeks at offsite parking, since we aren't round trip, that doesn't work. I did catch a groupon deal for a "limo" and confirmed that they would pick us up on Christmas eve and deliver to our hometown. Haven't made the reservations yet, so hopefully the owner won't renege on that. Our back up is the BART train then having my mother pick us up.
Finally....on a bit of a sad note, I think I finally have to face the fact that DS, who is 3 1/2, has some kind of sensory processing problem. He is more than just afraid of loud and harsh noises. In fact, I may not be able to get him to walk into his pre-school room tomorrow because the teacher did a story where she blew up a balloon and said it was a bat and made it squeak.
First thing tomorrow I am calling to get him an evaluation. Hopefully we can get a few sessions in with an OT before the trip. I realize anything Disney basically means sensory overload and certain things on the ship are probably not good for a "sensory kid". It's unfortunate that his issue is with sound.
Before I ask on the main boards, I was wondering if anyone here has a child with sensory issues, especially sounds, and how you deal with that on a cruise? I'd like him to be able to enjoy the shows, especially Toy Story, but he may not even walk into a theater. The biggest problem will be the kid's club.....he's looking forward to it, and I even think he will stay there without us, but if they come through with a band or suddenly play loud music or something, he will probably freak and never go back. If anyone has advice or experience, please let me know. Also, sorry if I posted about this before...the memory is not what it used to be.
