Yipee!! Finally talked my husband into this cruise and booked it this morning!:yay::dance3: We're travelling with my parents (already on the roster).
We will want one certificate and to be part of the ornament exchange. Now to read thru the thread as a participant instead of a lurker.;)
It will be me, Kim and Dave (DH). We booked 11B GTY.

Started my cruise packing yesterday (or should I say gathering). Made list of all the clothing we need for dinner - gathered the things that I could and hung in our space room. Gathered up all the misc things that need to go along with us and made lists of the things that I need to buy. Thank goodness we are flying Southwest and are able to bring 2 suitcases per person :yay:

All of our excursions are in order - notes made and deposits if needed have been paid. We are doing 2 DCL excursions and 2 excursions on our own.

We are staying in the Hollywood area on Saturday night - still need to arrange transportation to the hotel then to the Port on Sunday. Dh refuses to rent a car and drive, so we will need to book shuttles.

On the return we are headed to WDW, have the car rented, but need to book the hotel and get tickets.

US Women's National Soccer Team played Australia today here in So Cal and we took Summer for her birthday. There were about 25 of us and we had a blast. US won 2-1. We drove past the port of LA on our way home and said, "Hi" to the Wonder. :goodvibes It was around 4:30 and as we drove by and you could see everyone on top getting ready for the Sail Away Celebration. I'm sooooo jealous of those of you that are doing the California Coast cruise. We just can't miss any more school than we already are. Maybe some other time. Seeing the Wonder makes us even more excited. Counting the days on our hands again. See ya all soon!

What a great birthday present - we are big soccer fans - we watched the game on TV.

How exciting to see the Wonder in Port - we just got off the Magic last week and it was a great warm up to the PC cruise.

I love watching the countdown shrink. We have a countdown on the big chalkboard in the kitchen. We got the notifications 'okaying' our daughter's absence from school last week. One more thing to check off!
Hubby and I are heading down to WDW on Oct 3rd to celebrate his birthday. Love free dining and the Food and Wine fest. We are going to be trying a few new restaurants, Cat Cora's restaurant at the Boardwalk and Hollywood Brown Derby.
Pre Cruise we are staying at the Renaissance Long Beach for one night. We are renting a car and doing some quick sightseeing. We did our online check-in and got the 11-11:30 arrival, very happy about that. We booked some shore excursions. In Cabo we are doing the Camel and Mexican Outback Expedition. In Cartegna we are doing the Tour of the Rosario Islands. We love to snorkel and are trying to get our daughter interested in it also and that seemed like a nice time. Costa Maya we are looking forward to the Mayan Ruins with the group(should be some good educational events). My twenty something kids think it is hilarious that we are going to be at the Mayan Ruins on the 21st of Dec. So far Puerto Vallarta is up in the air. I think cerveza, chips and guac sounds great!
We have dinner at Palo on the 14th and brunch the 16th. Oh yes and the Exotic Rasul sched for the 10th, gotta start the trip off right!
DD is requesting we bring her home a Merida dress from WDW. At 9 years old she is 4'9" and 97lbs, she is a size 14, I hope we find her one. She says she will wear it to formal night. The way she is growing, maybe a 16 so it still fits!
Ok enough Monday morning rambling from me. Back to :laundy:

We are doing the Rosario Island tour and the Myan Ruins tour also. Nice to know there will be another young lady around. My dd will turn 12 on 12/12/12, lol. We are undecided about Cabo and Puerto Vallarta.

Dh is not going on this trip so I'm guessing I'll be passing on the Exotic Rasul this trip. :rotfl:

A warm :welcome: to Gilland18!

Linda

Welcome aboard! You have been added to the roll call (Page 6/Post 77) and the PC certificates list (Page 6/Post 79).

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

So Cal Crew - you live so close to San Pedro, I should be asking you questions - Assuming it doesn't snow and hold me up somewhere enroute, I'll be two nights at the Double tree. Have you ever been to that aquarium, or the light house near there? Any advise welcome!

Happy Day, all!

We are about 20 minutes from The Aquarium of the Pacific, 15 - 20 minutes from Disneyland and 10 - 15 minutes from Knotts Berry Farm. We've had annual passes to all 3 parks at one time or another. I think an annual pass to the Aquarium for the entire family is around $115 so even if we only go 2 or 3 times it's still worth it. Sometimes we spend all day there and some days we just go for a few hours and see our favorite exhibits. The Sea Otter, the penguins, the Animal Care Center (some times they have baby animals running around in a viewing area), feeding the lorikeets (you buy a cup of nectar and they will land on your hand and drink from the tiny cup), and shark lagoon with a petting area (you can watch them feed the sharks at scheduled times) are a few of our favorites. There's so much to learn. After going for 14 years, I still learn something new every time.

The Queen Mary is a fun place to go also. Tours for adults start around $25 and are over $100 for a dinner and tour combo. They're a lot of fun and both very educational. There's also a package you can buy if you do them both on the same day. It's $36 for adults and $21 for kids. There's a bus that has free shuttle service between the two.

The Pike at Rainbow Harbor (downtown Long Beach / about a mile from the Queen Mary close to the Aquarium) is a waterfront open-air market with tons of restaurants, a ferris wheel and entertainment. A relaxing place to have dinner and walk around.

Just a few fun things to do in Long Beach. Hope everyone enjoys their time here in So Cal before we sail off.

I just switched our February sailing on the Fantasy to this amazing PC cruise!!

We had booked the Fantasy quite a while ago and then our oldest son decided to do a GAP year excursion to Ghana, West Africa for six months and is currently scheduled to return while we would have been away on the Fantasy. Neither my husband nor I could bear the thought that we wouldn't be home when he returned, so we looked around and keeping in mind our nine year old's comment last year when he realized we were packing at the end of our 7 day Western Caribbean cruise on the Magic, "WHAT???? Next time we need to cruise for TWICE as long!!" we decided to join you all on this Panama Canal cruise.

We (DH, Alan, me, Mary Lou & DS Liam (9) are feeling pretty excited after reading through some of the discussion posts. We want to sign up for the FE, join the roll call, do the ornament exchange (for just me) and hopefully it's not too late to order a Canal certificate--I'll go conservative!!

This is my first post after lurking for more than a year so I'm not able to PM yet. Hopefully this post will be enough to get me started.

Can't wait to meet you all, I feel like I know so many of you already after reading through SO MANY posts!!:wave2:

Now I have to get going on booking all my excursions. And join up on the FB page as well!!

On the FaceBook page there is talk about getting a bus service from the DL resort area to the port.
Bob is taking names. They have many kinds of transport.
http://www.los-angeles-limousine-service.com/party-bus-los-angeles-mindy.html

Bus: Plans are to have the bus at the Disneyland resort area pick us up and be on the road to the cruise terminal by 10:00. This should put us at the terminal near 11:00am

It's looking to be about $10 a person.

Is there any more interest? Bob doesn't check her as often I don't think. I can let him know. Or you can check out the FB group. I just bumped up the post.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

It's going to be a stormy couple days here, so I'm off to the gym early!

Brilliant! Welcome Aboard!:dance3:

Long Beach sounds just lovely! But, I think I'll stick with my plan of San Pedro. This may be the only chance I get to stay down by the docks.

Happy Day, all!

Well I just checked the UK basketball schedule and it looks like we will only be on board for one game if the even broadcast that. So can you say" Are you ready for some football?"

I am glad to know I am not the only one who checks sports schedules to see what games I might miss. Missing a WVU football game would have been a deal breaker!

US Women's National Soccer Team played Australia today here in So Cal and we took Summer for her birthday. There were about 25 of us and we had a blast. US won 2-1.

My nephew would be so jealous. He is a huge soccer fan and loves the US women's team. He went insane during the semi-final match during the Olympics. It was so funny to watch. We hope Summer had an amazing birthday.

We will want one certificate and to be part of the ornament exchange.

You have been added.

Yay, glad to hear I am not the only crazy one who has started packing! I have been gathering things and putting them in the guest bedroom as I remember/ come across something. We are also thankful we are flying Southwest!

What an adventure for your oldest son! Sounds exciting. Yay for another 9 year old boy. My nephew will be thrilled. You have been added for the OE exchange.

Busy weekend for us. We took Friday off to drive to my DH's grandparents house in Bradford, PA who hosted a "reception" for my DH's brother who eloped last month. I am proud to say I survived the weekend, alcohol helped with that. I then flew to PIT on Sunday night and was in our Pit office for my review with my boss on Monday and flew home last night. While in PIT, I did a traning session on GIS and the newest hire was thrilled to see my backdrop was a picture of the Wonder as she had done an Alaska cruise on the Wonder this summer. We had fun sharing stories.

Upon my return home, I turned our home into what my DH has dubed the "Emily FE sweatshop". No breaks for the DH! We were able to cut most of the FE gifts out last night. Through a missunderstanding with my calulations on the amount of fabric we need for our FE, we needed 6 yards total, hubby bought 6 yards of each fabric, we have plenty of material! Now if only we will have the time...

Has an official meet been set-up for the kids to meet each other? I know there was talk of having one at some point like in the morning of the first sea day.

Thanks for all the comments about sip through the ship, I am thinking of something that will work for everyone. I'll keep everyone posted.

Wow, you packers have me nervous. I have not even begun to pack for my Oct. 20th cruise and I need 2 Halloween costumes for that one. But I am headed to Omaha to see my mom this week and Oriental Trading is based in Omaha so I will visit their retail store to see if I get any great ideas. I will also pick up some great Pirate stuff for both cruises. Sherry :cool1:

OK, I'm back from another amazing cruise to Canada! We had an amazing time with the smoothest seas I have ever seen most of the time! Friends upgraded at the port from an IGT to the Roy O. Disney suite (from the ridiculous to the sublime?!) and invited us to join them there one evening for desserts sent from Palo. Once I get over the awful cold that I developed on our last day I'll post some pictures.

Now I can really start getting involved in finalizing all my plans for this cruise, so that I can get on to planning my transatlantic cruise, and planning my newly booked Alaska cruise (LindaBabe, I see you're already on that one!).

I have to go back and get caught up on the last few days of posts here!

Hi Jeff;
My husband Gary and myself Arlene (ArGa) and my dad Syd are planning to share a table of 8 with John and Liz (Decked out) for the early seating. If John and Liz don't mind, I would love it if you could arrange for our table to be close by to the other Dis boarders. Are you ok with that Decked Out?

Hi ArGa,

Please PM or email me your reservation number(s). I already have included Liz and John.

I updated the Roll Call and Canal Certificates list per Liz's latest updates on pg. 6 of this thread and added a nice photo of Gilland18 and her DH. Also added a "DISboard Dining" meet to the Meets page and have added those of us that are dining together in Early Seating. Any that would like to join us, simply PM or email me your names and reservation number and I will link them so we can sit together. I know some in the late seating are also linking their dining and I can add those to the Late Seating section if someone would send me the information. Also added under the "Info" tab the info I'd posted earlier about formal and semi-formal dining evenings and the Disney shows that will be included. ::yes::
