Thanks Tammy! Being empty nesters has its advantage$$$. LOL!!HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Beth - I am envious of your upcoming cruise. We are about 3 hours away and I so wish I could cruise on the Magic, but the funds just don't allow for it
My youngest DD's birthday is on Monday. She will be turning 14 - oh my, where did the years go. We are spending the day at Knoebel's Grove - which is an old fashioned amusement park - no admission fees, pay as you go for the rides. We will picnicing with family for the day!
I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!
Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!
Still unpacking, so I haven't had time to read the pages I've missed. Forgive me if this has been asked before.
Anyone flying out of Ft. Lauderdale? My TA has recommended a shuttle service, but they want more than one person in their vans - looking to share with someone. It appears to be significantly less expensive than Disney transfers, which I don't even know if they go to FLL. http://www.ridesas.com/html/rates.html
Also, if you are flying into LA the day before, where are you staying? I know the group at the Double tree had a good experience last year, and that's what I'm currently thinking. (For one night, it's not really worth the double car fare for me to go to DL)
Happy Day, ALL!
GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!
Wow! Must not be too many Brits on this cruise - i'm not used to finding 'no new activity' when I get up in the morning!
C'mon people! POST! I mean really, what's more important than DIS ?
Out to the gym then the rest of the day cleaning and preparing for our "luau" on Monday. What are y'all doing this weekend?

It's a different thread completely without the Brits, right?!!!
I totally understand....my "baby" is 27 (28 on 6/5My youngest DD's birthday is on Monday. She will be turning 14 - oh my, where did the years go. ). I have no idea how that happened! BTW, we've always loved Knoebel's...it's the best! I took a group of my dtr's friends there for her bd a few times, and they always had a blast. We used to go every summer, but it's been a few years. Loved the free parking and admission, as we only rode the trains and did the haunted house (maybe played mini-golf). DD got the all-day pass, though...always a thrill-seeker, that one
. Have fun!
!Love that you guys are planning fun weekends! I got asked to work extra, Friday night and Sunday night, plus I am sick with a sore throat so would really rather be sleeping right now. But the Sunday night is holiday pay and overtime, so I can't beat the extra money to go towards paying for the cruise!
We do have a kids birthday to attend Saturday afternoon, bowling on Saturday evening with DH work friends and going to a "music in the park" thing on Sunday afternoon, so I am going to be exhausted by Monday night.
I have never been on such a long cruise. I am excited about it. It will be just me and my DH. I was hoping someone could give me ideas of activities they have on the boat during the days at sea. My DH could sit around the pool all day and read. I, on the other hand, like to do different thing.
Happy Memorial Day!
As Linda has already said, check the navigators to get specifics. Each night, I use a highlighter to mark the next day's activities; there are usually several choices of things to do, so I don't want to miss my favorites. We enjoyed the cooking demonstrations, alcohol tastings, trivia games, movies, and just hanging out on deck. There were also lectures, animation classes, Dis events, bingo games, etc. You won't be bored! Of course, the spa, Palo brunches/tea (they don't do tea anymoreI have never been on such a long cruise. ), and family activities for those w/ kids all took up time during the day, too.You might want to look at the old navigators people have posted.
naps (that's a big one for us!)
I don't think the nap schedule will be on the navigator, but I am definitely looking forward to them. Working night shift I never quite get used to days before it is back to work. I love my naps. And a chance to take one on deck, with the ocean breezes... Oh, heaven.
That makes this trip seem so close!! Can't wait!

I love Knoebel's! We use to go a couple times a summer. I'm a big fan of the Phenoix. Can you take a look and see if they have the high water flood marker up from September '11 (Tropical Storm Lee). My wedding was that weekend in Wilkes Barre and when the city got evacuated, we had two days to plan a whole new wedding, rehersal dinner, church and reception and needed to find a hotel for our out of town guests. What a disaster but come hell or high water, I was getting married that weekend!
Enjoy Knoebel's, we will be working on home improvements all weekend long.
Waiting, waiting for the Southwest schedule to open for December. . .

Wow! That brings back memories, some good, some not-so-good. Lee hit around the 7th, which I only recall because that was the day we flew out of Newark to Barcelona, for the WBTA which sailed 9/10 (the good memoriesI love Knoebel's! ). We went to Lancaster a month or two later and a couple of roads were still closed due to bridge damage. People in WB are still displaced and rebuilding. If I recall correctly (and at my age...
), that's the same storm system that caused damage in NY state and parts of New England where it never floods (in addition to the South, of course). There were two storms very close together.

I'm so happy you were able to rearrange your wedding plans!
Me too - one week tomorrow - hopefully they will open it as scheduled!
Keeping my fingers crossed that the prices are reasonable!![]()
