Our holiday weekend was last week while I was on the Wonder! It is supposed to be a sunny weekend here though so hopefully I will get out and enjoy some yardwork or something...

:beach: HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND :beach:

:cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Beth - I am envious of your upcoming cruise. We are about 3 hours away and I so wish I could cruise on the Magic, but the funds just don't allow for it :sad:

:cake: My youngest DD's birthday is on Monday. She will be turning 14 - oh my, where did the years go. We are spending the day at Knoebel's Grove - which is an old fashioned amusement park - no admission fees, pay as you go for the rides. We will picnicing with family for the day!

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!
Thanks Tammy! Being empty nesters has its advantage$$$. LOL!!

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Still unpacking, so I haven't had time to read the pages I've missed. Forgive me if this has been asked before.

Anyone flying out of Ft. Lauderdale? My TA has recommended a shuttle service, but they want more than one person in their vans - looking to share with someone. It appears to be significantly less expensive than Disney transfers, which I don't even know if they go to FLL. http://www.ridesas.com/html/rates.html

Also, if you are flying into LA the day before, where are you staying? I know the group at the Double tree had a good experience last year, and that's what I'm currently thinking. (For one night, it's not really worth the double car fare for me to go to DL)

Happy Day, ALL!

We are flying out of FLL too. Our TA told us Disney has a waiting list to see if there are enough people to do a bus. So, if you're interested sign up!! If not, guess we'll have to look into a shuttle too.

When we did the MR in February we stayed at the Courtyard LAX Century Blvd. It was awesome! They have a free shuttle service and the rooms were big! So, plenty of room for all our suitcases and the 4 of us! We'd stay there again, but we are doing DL beforehand. So, we'll be staying close to there instead.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Wow! Must not be too many Brits on this cruise - i'm not used to finding 'no new activity' when I get up in the morning!

C'mon people! POST! I mean really, what's more important than DIS ? :lmao:

Out to the gym then the rest of the day cleaning and preparing for our "luau" on Monday. What are y'all doing this weekend?
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:It's a different thread completely without the Brits, right?!!! :goodvibes

I totally understand....my "baby" is 27 (28 on 6/5 ). I have no idea how that happened! BTW, we've always loved Knoebel's...it's the best! I took a group of my dtr's friends there for her bd a few times, and they always had a blast. We used to go every summer, but it's been a few years. Loved the free parking and admission, as we only rode the trains and did the haunted house (maybe played mini-golf). DD got the all-day pass, though...always a thrill-seeker, that one :crazy2:. Have fun!

We're cleaning and planting this weekend, prepping for DM to visit from TN. We're picking her up at PHL Wed. and spending the night in Lancaster before coming home. We might head to Atlantic City Tues night, if I can get everything done this weekend (I have to work Monday and Tuesday, off the rest of the week). I'm such a perfectionist...

Veggies (just a few in pots on our deck) and herbs have been planted, along with some flowers, but I have window boxes and other planters to finish; just picked up the rest of the flowers yesterday. I'll be aching tomorrow night :faint:!

Love that you guys are planning fun weekends! I got asked to work extra, Friday night and Sunday night, plus I am sick with a sore throat so would really rather be sleeping right now. But the Sunday night is holiday pay and overtime, so I can't beat the extra money to go towards paying for the cruise!
We do have a kids birthday to attend Saturday afternoon, bowling on Saturday evening with DH work friends and going to a "music in the park" thing on Sunday afternoon, so I am going to be exhausted by Monday night.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Visiting ANy amusement park sounds like a fun way to celebrate a birthday. (Mine's in February - ain't nuttin fun going on then - unless you are my skiing spouse )

I guess you ARE going to be tired - but your weekend does sound pretty fun, except for the 'work' part. Although, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank, after that. HOPE you feel better soon!

Today, I have more laundry, over to buy more blocks for the garden wall dh is repairing, work on scrapbook, chili for supper.

Happy Saturday, all!

I have never been on such a long cruise. I am excited about it. It will be just me and my DH. I was hoping someone could give me ideas of activities they have on the boat during the days at sea. My DH could sit around the pool all day and read. I, on the other hand, like to do different thing.
Happy Memorial Day!

You might want to look at the old navigators people have posted.

movies indoors and out, lectures (probably by a retired canal pilot), art of entertaining (cooking & wine pairing), character drawing, origami, napkin folding, ship tours, towel folding, wine tastings, martini tastings, whisky tastings, character greets, DISboard activities, bingo, eating, shows, spa treats, workout in fitness center, naps (that's a big one for us!)

As Linda has already said, check the navigators to get specifics. Each night, I use a highlighter to mark the next day's activities; there are usually several choices of things to do, so I don't want to miss my favorites. We enjoyed the cooking demonstrations, alcohol tastings, trivia games, movies, and just hanging out on deck. There were also lectures, animation classes, Dis events, bingo games, etc. You won't be bored! Of course, the spa, Palo brunches/tea (they don't do tea anymore :sad2:), and family activities for those w/ kids all took up time during the day, too.

naps (that's a big one for us!)

I don't think the nap schedule will be on the navigator, but I am definitely looking forward to them. Working night shift I never quite get used to days before it is back to work. I love my naps. And a chance to take one on deck, with the ocean breezes... Oh, heaven.

I took a few naps on my kidless Hawaii cruise. I hope my kids can watch themselves when I happen to nap on this one! LOL I have my fingers crossed for more warmth and sun on this cruise which means more time spent on those loungers, which means more opportunities to nap!

I was doing my online bookings for my August Dream cruise when I happened to glance at the info for this cruise and remembered that my PIF date is July 11!! :scared1: That makes this trip seem so close!! Can't wait!

Yes, one of the luxuries of getting older and having grown children. We welcome those naps too, so we can stay up later and enjoy the deck chairs at night after dark. It is such a soothing sound.

I love Knoebel's! We use to go a couple times a summer. I'm a big fan of the Phenoix. Can you take a look and see if they have the high water flood marker up from September '11 (Tropical Storm Lee). My wedding was that weekend in Wilkes Barre and when the city got evacuated, we had two days to plan a whole new wedding, rehersal dinner, church and reception and needed to find a hotel for our out of town guests. What a disaster but come hell or high water, I was getting married that weekend!

Enjoy Knoebel's, we will be working on home improvements all weekend long.

WHAT an unforgettable story! Got photos?

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Sunny Sunday, here. The birds are singing and the sky is blue. Hope it's as nice as this tomorrow, when my yard is filled with people!

Waiting, waiting for the Southwest schedule to open for December. . .

Happy Day, all!

Wow! That brings back memories, some good, some not-so-good. Lee hit around the 7th, which I only recall because that was the day we flew out of Newark to Barcelona, for the WBTA which sailed 9/10 (the good memories :thumbsup2). We live about 30 min. from Scranton and 40 from Wilkes Barre; this is our home turf. It had rained quite a bit the week before, but we had absolutely no idea of the devastation Lee brought until we returned home almost three weeks later (no damage to us...we're in the higher elevations, as they say). It caused one of the largest fairs in the state to cancel for the first time in it's history (grounds were under water; not that far from Knoebles) and flooded many areas not normally prone to flooding (incl. Hershey Park, where two bison in their animal park had to be shot after they couldn't be rescued from the floodwaters :sad2:). We went to Lancaster a month or two later and a couple of roads were still closed due to bridge damage. People in WB are still displaced and rebuilding. If I recall correctly (and at my age...:confused3), that's the same storm system that caused damage in NY state and parts of New England where it never floods (in addition to the South, of course). There were two storms very close together.

Now, aren't you sorry you mentioned Lee?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I'm so happy you were able to rearrange your wedding plans!

OK, back to regularly scheduled programming....:goodvibes

Me too - one week tomorrow - hopefully they will open it as scheduled!

Keeping my fingers crossed that the prices are reasonable! :duck:

me too, have return flight on AA from Miami, but still need flight from TN to LAX .

Unfortunately, Irene had already hammered the Schoharie and Mohawk Valleys and much of Vermont before Lee arrived in New York State.

Hello All!
We (Myself, DH, DD-13 and DS-11) just booked this cruise today are are so excited- this is our first Disney cruise! We've been wanting to take one for awhile and the great rates made this impossible to pass up. The kids would love to meet any others of a similar age to hang out with on the cruise. We would also like to participate in the FE and get a PC certificate. We are new to DCL so any tips you think are helpful are much appreciated.:cool1:
