So we are getting close to a 100 people participating in the OE. I cannot wait to see the different ornaments everyone brings. I was discussing this event with my mom and she pointed out the large number of participates and that it might take 2 hrs to do the exchange. We came up with three options:
1. Play the game as normal and let it run 2 hrs if need be and enjoy everyone’s company.
2. Change it from 3 to 2 steals to lessen the amount of time due to steals
3. Break the group into 2 groups within the Lounge
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Bought a new car this week, a Mazda 6, so now it is back to vacation planning!

Does anyone know if there is a liquor store near (within walking distance to) Disneyland? How do alcohol sales work in CA? Can you buy beer/wine at gas stations? And liquor at grocery stores or only state run liquor stores and beer distributors? We would like to pick up a few adult refreshments before boarding the cruise.

I know a few people are celebrating birthdays/anniversaries that are not participating in the FE. If you fall into this category, do you mind PMing me your cabin #. Thanks.

I have my niece and nephew this weekend and we are taking them on their first overnight canoe trip on the Delaware River. I can't wait to take them!

Yes, there are a couple of stores that sell alcohol right near Disneyland. When we spend the night down there we stay at the Sheraton down the street and walk past a couple of stores to pick up stuff on the way back.

We like the second option for the OE. But we could see where this could become a big process.

Congrats on the new car :) Those are good cars. We work on a few of them but only for maintenance type of things.

I'm not sure about 7-11 type places as I've never looked there before, but you can definitely buy hard liquor at regular grocery stores.

Ornament exchange - Limit to 2 steals. Limit "dithering time" to 20 seconds.

Yes. There is an ABC store next door to the Candy Cane Inn on Harbor. If you look at a map of Disneyland, you will see that the lower right hand corner of the block is "missing". That is two or three little motels and 2 convenience stores. The ABC store is an amazing place - half tacky souvenirs and cheap tee shirts and the other half liquor, snacks and sundries. It's about a 10 minute brisk walk around the outside of the block from the Grand Californian.

"We are in the same boat" (haha, no pun intended). DH and I would love to join your table for dining. I am not sure how one goes about arranging that because this whole cruising thing is new to us but count us in please. And late seating is fine with us. As I said, everything is a first for us so I will find out what works best for us as I go along. I am just so thankful to be able to take this wonderful cruise with my husband and with fellow Disney lovers!

That would be great. I am pretty sure all we need to do is call DCL and request it (with names, stateroom or res numbers). I'll send you a PM. When we get closer to the sail date, we can set it up.

To link dining, definitely all you need is the name on the reservation and the reservation number! It's very easy!

Got a few things on my mind, so to distract myself this morning, I made this to go around my room number.

That looks fantastic! Well done!

I think DH and I might go here when we go to Costa de Maya

Anyone else have any interest?

Cash only, but a $25 massage sounds awesome!

My family is another one that has yet to decide our Costa Maya plans. Do we experience the Mayan ruins on the last day of the Mayan calendar, or do we have experience one last beach day before the cruise ends? Indiana Jones or Corona commercial? :confused3

GOOD Morning, happy Cruisers!

I had a brain wave this morning concerning the ornament exchange. Two hours is a long time for children to sustain attention, especially if their number comes early and they're just sitting around watching others open stuff, without even an adult beverage to pass the time. I remember how boring it is to listen to adults chat. . . or maybe it was just my ADD.

Anyway, What would y'all think about a two timed start? Say 2 o'clock for kids and JUST have the kids draw numbers for an exchange of 'kid' friendly ornaments. And then, depending on the number of children signed up, and how long you think that will take, say 2:30 or 3 or whatever for the adults. Then the kids could go off to their clubs and be having fun, while the adults carry on.

Happy Day, all!

Hi All:

I am heading off for a 10 day road trip with my girlfriend. We will be heading to Quebec City, Bay of Fundy area, PEI, Nova Scotia, Maine, New Hampshire and home. I will give you the highlights when I get back. I am sure that I will have a lot to catch up on with the Dis boards by the time I get home. DH is staying home to look after the dog and work. Someone needs to earn money while I gallavant all over the country!:drive:

I was thinking along the same lines as LindaBabe, have an exchange just for the kids and then one for the adults. I think that is a great idea.

You might catch the Disney Magic in port. She'll be in Halifax 8/7 & 8/14, and St. John 8/8 & 8/15.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Yes, the Platinum date is August 11th, but this platinum will *NOT* be up at midnight to book anything! If I get it, I get it (whatever IT is) and if I don't, then I will on the ship.

Another Florida Morning, here in upstate New York. What happened to the cool rainy summers we used to have when we were camping in a tent?

Off to the farmers market this morning, and then home to scrapbook and dream of cruising.

Happy Day, all!

The weather will be cooling off soon, and we will be saying, Where is the warm weather? We had some rain last night :thumbsup2 , but need more. I have the windows open because it is cool this morning. It is a mere 73 with a high of 98 with the humidex.

I guess being on the west coast has its advantages since I only have to stay up until 9pm! You would think staying up until 9 would be easy to do but all these late nights staying up to watch the Olympics is starting to catch up to me! I just wish I knew ahead of time what excursions will be offered in Cabo and PV since we have shorter than normal port times.

my grandma and I are so excited this is my first posting so I might be doing some more. there jessicamom are u happy that I posted.:crazy2:
