We've always done late dinner, but we eat very late at home, so it works for us. I'm a bit concerned that late dining will be too early for us during the first two time zones !

I just asked our TA about the waiting list for transport from Miami to FLL and she called Disney and they said they had never heard of that. Does anyone have more info? Thanks!

I would email your Dreams agent and ask them to link your reservations together! Our Dreams agent has been wonderful with all my questions!

Just to add, make sure you have your in-laws reservation #...your agent will need that to link reservations:)

spiiffy...so sorry to hear about the disser who is not paying! I also don't like confrontations and don't know really what I would do! I know I would keep emailing her...probably daily and maybe send her a certified letter in the mail saying if you do not receive the money by a certain day, you will file a small claims case (even if you don't). Maybe that would scare her enough to get her to pay! Please tell me you will collect the money before you send out your stuff from now on...I am also a trusting person, so would never stiff someone, but apparently some people will! I have made some tye-dye mickey shirts for two other dissers and haven't had a problem, but you just never know! Sorry you are going through this...people like this make me :furious::furious:

We actually have an airport in our town--although usually expensive to fly out of. Fortunately, I was able to snag a mileage ticket for our upcoming trip that allows us to get on a twenty seat plane from our tiny town. We've lived in Alaska 16 years--it's an amazing place.

That is so nice to be able to use free tickets! I would love to get up to Alaska sometime...it looks beautiful! I will watch "Coast Guard Alaska" and it seems like everyone in those small towns really look out for each other!:goodvibes

I will definetely take an empty ship! Hopefully then we can upgrade even with being IGT!! I was wondering when everyone put down for their dinner...early or late? Right now we are early, but contemplating doing the late seating.

We are having a hard time deciding too. We are on late right now, but thinking it will be too late for our kiddos on Western time. When we are on Eastern time it's just right. So, not sure what to do?

How did you get to the port from the hotel? Were there any restaurants within walking distance?[/QUOTE]

We took the shuttle back to the airport and then took the DCL bus to the port. There is a Burger King really close. The hotel told us there was a grocery store about a mile away. I would walk it during the day but not at night. We had both kids in the stroller and walked there to get some adult beverages for the cruise. On the way there we passed an In and Out burger and some other restaurants. So, it was like a 15-20 minute walk with the kids. Really nice after being on the plane.

The reason we put down early dining for now, is that in our experience, it is a lot easier to switch to late seating than early. So, as it gets closer, we might decide to switch to late...I just don't like eating so late and then going to bed...sure doesn't help with the weight!

Ditto! We booked early for the exact same reason. We've done late dining and although there are many pros, I also didn't like feeling stuffed so late and then going to bed. BUT on the PCC, the sunsets will be around the time of the early seating and I don't want to miss them so that may be the reason why we make the switch to late dining.

We have convinced our in-laws to join us on this cruise. Should be an exciting time--it's their first Disney Cruise.

Does anyone know how we could go about making sure they are seated at our dinner table/rotation? They booked through Disney and we've booked through Dreams Unlimited, so different reservation processes. Can we just make this request?

Disney Cruise Line has a Booking Transfer Authorization Form your in-laws can sign and fax over to make Dreams Unlimited their travel agent if they haven't paid in full yet. If they booked on line they should be able to keep the booking credit and pick up any booking credit Dreams has to offer. It maybe worth checking into.

I've done a little research using some old Navigators, and based on what I see, this is what I think our evening cruise schedule might be like:

Day 1 - "Let the Magic Begin" - Cruise Casual
Day 2 - Sea - "Taste of California" - Casual
Day 3 - Cabo - "Around the World" - Casual
Day 4 - Puerto Vallarta - "Golden Mickey" - Formal
Day 5 - Sea "Villains Tonight"
Day 6 - Sea - Rotational Dining Menu - Semi-Formal
Day 7 - Sea - Rotational Dining Menu - Casual
Day 8 - Sea - Rotational Dining Menu - Casual
Rotational Menus:
A/P - Show Dinner
Lumiere's - French Dinner
Parrot Cay - Island Dinner

Day 9 - Panama Canal - "West Meets East" - Casual
Day 10 - Cartagena - "Pirates In the Caribbean" - Pirate Dress
Day 11 - Sea - "Master Chef"- Casual
Day 12 - Sea - "Captain's Gala" - Casual
Day 13 - Costa Maya - "Prince and Princess" - Formal
Day 14 - Sea - "Til We Meet Again" - Cruise Casual

The Day 5 Sea day used to be a Port Day, so I could see this being done on Day 8 or Day 13 Instead, and then those getting switched around.
Thoughts? I think it's neat that we'd have 2 formal nights.

On the TA we had 2 formal nights and either 1 or 2 semi formal nights. It was fun!

Great idea! I'll switch then too!

I was looking through the ruins thing tonight and found this concerning smaller children: Restrictions: Child rate applies for children under 12 years of age. There is no charge for children 5 years old or under.

So, that might help some deciding what to do!

I do not think it is at all crazy to homeschool in order to go to Disney parks and travel when it's not peak season. I am the kind of person who would consider this option once our kids are school-aged. Just had to say that!
...

For the ruins.....because of the very cool 12/21/12 coincidence, DH and I just cannot pass up this adventure. The only catch is that the kids need to come with us. 3 y.o DS will probably like it, and one of us can wear 11 month old DD in a backpack. I see that the tour company offers a child rate, and we don't mind paying it. However, I'm concerned that they are assuming the "child" is older, like 10 or something, and they will not be prepared for anyone to bring babies or toddlers. Should I contact them and make sure it's OK for us to bring such young children?

We've homeschooled since oldest dd (she's off to college this Fall on a full NROTC scholarship-- sorry to brag, but so proud of her) was in Kindergarten. People ask-- why do you do it-- and I say, "so we can go on cruises and to Disney in the off-season." And they say, "Really, why do you do that?" And I have to repeat myself. Several times. :rotfl: Of course we've also traveled other places, but the threat around here when someone is being difficult is, "if you have to go to school, no more Disney vacations."

Could you let me know what you find out about the ruins? We are interested in doing the tour too, but we'd have our 6 and 4 yr old with us. So, I want to make sure it would be something appropriate for them to come.

When we did our last 14 nighter on DCL our kids were 3 and 1 too!

If you're thinking of joining us-- I don't think it will be an issue. We toured with David and Ivan before and they were very accommodating. I think I mentioned before, or told someone via pm when they asked about small kids, we're taking our two 8 year olds, and youngest ds has some medical and developmental special needs (won't be a disruption, don't worry) so young kids are welcome as far as I'm concerned. There is a good deal of walking, and it might be hot, but they do provide drinks, and we had a very nice air conditioned bus. We had a first rate experience with them, David was our guide and he was very informative and funny, historically accurate and honest. And being there on the last day of their calendar-- awesome.

I mean, if the world's going to end-- what better place for it to happen then on a Disney cruise. (Glad my priest doesn't read the dis-- he'd smack me upside the head for that.)

Yay, we just booked this cruise today!!! We just got off the Dream a couple of weeks ago and tripped across this one. We are super excited to do a PC cruise!

I'd like to sign my family up for this tour if it is still open. Can you send me additional information about it?

Thanks,

Chris

Here's the website of the company we're using: http://www.thenativechoice.com/

We were thinking of the standard ruins tour due to the shorter time and lower price (haven't seen the ballgame one before, that's new). I don't know anyone who's done the Mayan Experience, so besides TripAdvisor feedback, I don't know how that is.

There's also the opportunity to donate school supplies to the local elementary school, and time permitting, they do drop in on the shorter tour to leave the supplies. Don't know if anyone would be interested in that, but they have information on their site.

Julie, DH and I are interested in doing this tour as well. It sounds like a tour we were planning on doing on one of our Disney cruises in the past, but they ended up not going to Costa Maya, so we didn't have the opportunity. I love the idea of bringing school supplies...if we end of doing this, do you know what types of supplies they are in need of?
