EBPC December 9, 2012!!! PART 2

I am not even halfway through labeling ours. I am working nights till Weds, then we drive down Friday evening, so hoping to do the rest on Weds afternoon. I brought some to work, but to do the rest at work would require too big a bag of assorted stuff.

Who did you guys end up renting from? I have res with both Hertz on 10th and Budget at Sears, trying to decide which to go with since the cost is fairly similar.

Only 2 types of footwear? Wow, DH has dress shoes, sneakers, water shoes, walking shoes... We both tend to overpack, but with the zipline tour possibly leaving us with wet shoes, I will be bringing some Keens for that, an additional weight to fill our bags.

Deanna- we are flying home First, so get a total of 6 bags. I don't think we will need that many, so if needed, we can carry one home for you.

Jenn, we are going with Hertz on 10th. Got a really good rate around $45, so that made me stop looking! My plan is to pick it up when they open at 9:00, come and pack the car up and then head south.

I really have to figure something out for my shoes for the zipline tour. I don't have anything that can would be good for both walking and getting wet...may have to do yet some more shopping!

How nice that you are flying home First!! At least we are on JebBlue, so we have the tv's to keep us entertained! I loved the days when DH had the good status and we got upgraded when we would fly...of course that meant he was gone a lot of the time which I did not like. Thank you so much of your offer to bring one of our bags home...we should be fine with everything. I don't remember, are your flying out of FLL or MIA? We are going out of FLL and we get into SFO at around 10pm on the 23rd.

Also, during our two weeks away, we will attempt to complete the 2012 EBPC Disney Wonder Half Marathon. We plan to run one mile every day and hopefully by Miami will have logged 13.1 miles. It will be a rather slow pace as some of us (that would be me) aren't so fast. :snail: Again, the more the merrier. We'll run in the mornings. Does anyone know the schedule for breakfast? We'd love to set a time certain every day (though port days may present a challenge).

Doug and I would love to participate in the Half Marathon. Emily, I am also a snail, and DH is allowed to "leave me in the dust" when we do 5Ks.:rotfl2: I think this will be helpful for getting me ready to spend 4 days at WDW after we get off the ship.

Lurking in the background - I can't seem to stop myself from checking this thread so I thought I would post one more time since most of you are beginning your travels this week.

While we are so disappointed that we aren't able to meet and cruise with you, we wanted to wish you a "WONDER"ful trip filled with lots fo great memories. Safe travels to LA and while on the cruise. We will be thinking of you each day and will be waiting patiently for you to return to hear all the details.

My recovery is coming along slowly - less pain each day, but I still have to use a walker to walk. I will be out of work for another 2-3 weeks minimum and I start physical therapy this week.

Enjoy your countdown and best wishes for a great time!!! Someone please have a Mickey Bar for me and a BBC (maybe 2 or 3 :rotfl2:)

Tammy

Glad to hear that you're doing better! I was thinking of you this week...I FINALLY got my flight straightened out. I'm back to the original plan LOL!!!

We aren't runners but we are walkers. We will probably have walked a full marathon by the time we get to Miami! We don't speedwalk, but we always manage a few miles each day, although not all at once. I can't wait to meet all of you next week!

On Sunday, as soon as we board and eat lunch, my DS (9) and DS (8) will be up on the sports deck playing soccer and basketball until the M&G at 2:30. :duck: Nothing too competitive, just a good way for them to meet other kids. If you're around, please join us.

So our original plan was to be at the port bright and early and look into getting an upgrade. Yes, that's right, plans have changed. Summers soccer team made it to area playoffs. If they win, they move on to sectionals. But due to the massive rain storms in Orange County last week, ( 1/2 an inch ) the girls soccer games were postponed till next weekend. Now Summer has 2 games on Saturday and 2 games on Sunday. Luckily, Autumn only has 1 game on Saturday. Sunday's game times are 9:00 and 12:00 so we shouldn't have any trouble getting to port by 4:00, we just won't be there for all of the precruise festivities. It's not like they're going to run out of ice cream or anything, but it's killing us all. Last year Summer had mandatory all star tryouts and Robert was coaching, so Autumn and I took all the luggage and checked in early, then Robert and Summer met us on board later. Bottom line is, we'll find the boys on the sports deck as soon as we get there. The girls would love to be a part of the marathon. Just give us the times and we'll see what we can work in. :grouphug:

I've cut my clothes down to bare minimum and my suitcases are over full. NOW what?
:confused3 I'm having the same problem here! ::yes::::yes::::yes:: Shoes aren't even packed yet. It would be so nice to be able to drive to the port....

Off to spend the day with the MIL (but taking DH's jeans/slacks with me to hem...multi-tasking! ;)). At some point, I have to figure out how to use the new camera. Suddenly, there is just not enough time :worried:.

Can't believe we're only a week away! Now, off to pack and try to finish Path Between the Seas.

P.S. -- Thanks for all of your packing list suggestions. They are extremely helpful. Yet, even so, I'm still positive I'm forgetting something. Arrgh!!

I love this idea! I was running religiously til the ortho told me to stop because of Achilles tendonitis about two months ago so I'm back on the Couch to 5k plan. A mile a day would be perfect if not more. Let us know your times and perhaps we'll join you. DH loves to get up early for those spinning classes.

I'm not familiar with the PV zipline but when we did the ziplining in Costa Rica I wore my regular tennis shoes. There was no place to get wet and it was very hot. I know you'll all have fun!

And WHEN will ye be having time to do that Missy? I thought you were billing out 300 hours this week?

HAHA, No Sleep is the plan, there will be plenty of time to sleep on the cruise! Not working at the landfill has helped, Boss is flying in tonight to help me out and another person is presenting my results on Tuesday's meeting in Lehigh County so I don't have to travel back from DC for it. Anyway, I posted on the creative board, maybe someone will help us out. Now if only I could get these FE gifts done.....

I will sign my DH up for the running. Here in Houston he either runs 4 or 5 miles a day or rides his bike 15 or so miles. He is a retired Marine and has done always done this. He isn't fast but he is steady. Sherry. (meanwhile I will keep a walking pace for my mile a day):cool1:
Slow and steady gets it done! On our last cruise, a current Marine kicked my hubby's *** every morning. I was enjoying it a little to much. After the first time, DH looked at me and said, So that's what it feels like to get lapped.
Doug and I would love to participate in the Half Marathon. Emily, I am also a snail, and DH is allowed to "leave me in the dust" when we do 5Ks.:rotfl2: I think this will be helpful for getting me ready to spend 4 days at WDW after we get off the ship.
When DH and I first dated, we ran a 5k race together, DH ran it, won it and then lapped around to "finish" with me. He caught up with me and couldn't slow down to my pace. I was NOT happy. He is double my pace and it just pisses me off. He quickly learned that I did not find it cute. Now he waits for me near the finish line, except for the one time he ran back to help me break the 30 min mark.

Congrats to the girls and their team, we are giving up on upgrading. Instead, we decided to use the money for a cruise out of Texas with our friends who are missing this one. I was thinking, I could make running logs for everyone and that way if people miss our group time, they can run and log their runs on their own time.

I lOVE the 8am spin class. We normally run first than hit up the spin class, my sister hates running so we try to do both to make us both happy but on the Fantasy, the spin classes were at 4PM, which was juts horrible. We hated having to break from our day, we rather do the workouts in the morning. I hope they have them at 8am this trip...

But due to the massive rain storms in Orange County last week, ( 1/2 an inch )

Over the years I've made dozens of business trips to the LA area and always found it comical that media/locals treat 1/2 to 1 inch of rain as a rainstorm. That's hardly enough rain to settle dust. :rotfl2:

I am in for the tiara and champagne. What do we bring besides tiaras and champagne? Is the time and date and location on Jeff's website yet? :cool1: Sherry

DH & I would love to meet for this! I'm not fast, but I'm steady. We are totally flexible on time.....heck it's vacation & after the stress of this past month, it sounds like everyone on this board is ready for it, myself included! Can't wait to meet everyone!!!!!!

Added to the web site. I saw April (abbyar) had proposed it be on the last formal night so that's what I put. Time TBR, stateroom TBR.

OK, so these are the basic FE's. I still have to add the special little touches before they are done. I made more than I thought I would, but my new machine was just so much fun to use! They are free and I have a list of the people who have already asked for one. I will PM everyone today. If you see something you like, send me a PM and I will add you to the list.

You will need to provide your own dowel rod. I dont have any extras. 1/2 inch or smaller and 10 to 11 inches long. Please drill a small hole in each end and bring a small zip tie to secure them to your fish. If you have any problems for questions please feel free to contact me.

Susan and I will be running/walking every sea day at least. We haven't run in almost two years after we did the Disney marathon in 2011. We intended to take a few months off to let some nagging injuries heal but it turned into a few years. :confused3

Come up with a time and I'll put it up on the web site.

The three of us are totally in for the Half Marathon and my DH will be delighted to meet some fellow spin class devotees. He is also hoping for the 8 am class.

Wow, you guys sure now how to make things fun!!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I really like the first 2 pictured, if neither one has been claimed yet, I'd like one. THANK YOU:worship:

Looking forward to the running group. It will be a lot warmer than my Santa Claus race this weekend. DH and I are hoping that they have Boot Camp classes. They had some on our Fantasy cruise. If not, my personal trainer and I have discussed a few moves to do on my own. So if you see some doing an inch worm and push ups, a sprint, some high knees etc. That would be me. I am trying to increase my speed. I love my 7 minute kilometre, but some day I am going to have to do a 5K under 35 minutes.

Hey Emily, maybe your DH can coach me.

Thank you so much for being so sensitive. I know that people will be leaving things for Laura in her FE as her cancellation is so close to our sailing and things are already done. She will be disappointed that she was not on the cruise with us and that so many people thought good thoughts for her. If you have something for her, I will gladly take it to her. It will not be horrible for her. It will be a reminder to her that people that she doesn't even know care about her. And that she has an obligation, just as much as I do, to keep the deals that were made. She totally understands the reasons that she is not able to join me on this wonderful trip. I think this entire experience will be a positive one for Laura, in many ways, in the long run, although she doesn't see it as such right now.

Oh, good. I don't have kids and, even if I did, sometimes it's hard to tell how another's will react to things. I'll definitely bring her card along then. :)

:rotfl: And don't even start about the traffic. It sprinkles and you can be sure you'll be sitting at a dead stop on the 405. But then, since no one there knows how to drive in "weather," I was okay with this. Sure was a change from driving back East though.

OK, so these are the basic FE's.

Those look great! I always think I'll start a little sewing project and it always turns out taking so much longer than I expected.

The same thing has happened with my FE gifts...though they're not a sewing project - just another type of project. I had an idea and thought, "Oh, that'll be cute and relatively quick to make." Then once I got into it was I more like "What was I thinking?" :rotfl: So I've been working on those pretty heavily the last couple of days. I had thought about sending them ahead of me to my hotel in one of the Priority Mail flat rate boxes, but then I figured by the time I spent the $15 on postage for that, I'd rather pay the extra $10 to check another bag if necessary to be assured they show up with me and don't get delayed by the post office.

My DD lives in Egypt. They had 3 minutes of rain that caused hours of delays.
