I purchased ski pants for my dh last week, on the 6th, auction said they would ship within 2 days of payment. I paid on the 6th via paypal.

I contacted the seller yesterday, here is the text of our messages:

Dear seller,
Have these been shipped? I paid for them on January 6, and am very close to your location - would think I should have received by now. Please send shipping information. Thank You.
- buyer

Dear buyer,
I have not yet sent them. I will do so tomorrow. I
apologize for the delay.
- seller

Dear seller,
I would expect you to send them via overnight delivery at no additional charge to me, considering I paid for them on Wednesday and they're being shipped after my inquiry to you, on Tuesday.

Please send tracking information so I can know they are enroute and the delivery provider/method. Thank You.
- buyer

Dear buyer,
I will ship ground. I would suggest a nicer tone.
- seller

Now, granted, I was ill when I sent the email saying I expected them to be overnighted, but even now, medicated, I don't think the request was unacceptable - this was a $50 purchase and the seller apparently just didn't send it! I am thinking I will get the ski pants, leave neutral/negative feedback because of the (non) shipping and move on. I have 100% positive feedback, and don't want retalitory negative feedback from the seller.

Yes, the seller should have shipped, but he didn't. That's life. I'd be surprised if you get the pants at all now; I bet you get a refund instead.

Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback. So leave a neutral/negative and move on

As a seller on ebay, sometimes life does intrude on getting things done.

You paid for the item on the 6th (last Wed). I know most of the time I ship within my alotted time frame but stuff does happen occassionally (car problems, computer messes up, have to work late, kids are sick, etc...).

I would of expected the item to be mailed by Monday the 11th or Tuesday the 12th. Me personally I would cut the seller some slack (unless they have a history of late shipping, you can check via their feedback)

If I was that seller and you demanded overnight shipping, I would refund your money and move on. But that is just me. Of course, this is one of the many reasons I do not sell on ebay any longer.

As far as negative/neutral feedback. If you get the item in the condition described in a resonable time frame within 10 days why would you leave a negative/neutral? the seller fullfilled their end. Yes, not as fast as you would like but still a reasonable timeframe. Just saying, something to consider.

Sometimes it says more not to leave feedback at all. Also something to consider.

Anyway, good luck with the transaction hope it turn out for the best for you and the seller.

I think you're asking a bit much to have them shipped overnight. Overnight's expensive. They should have shipped them by the end of last week. However, like others have said, sometimes life gets in the way. I think Priority Mail would be reasonable.

Respectfully, as comicguy points out, real life can intrude on even our best intentions. You were ill; you have no idea what the seller's medical or personal situation has been over the last few days. Just as there's no need for you to explain yours to them, there's little need for them to explain to you. Sure, it would've been nice, but frankly, unless a seller has a highly congtagious condition, I don't want to know their personal life.

Sure, they should have shipped within two days; they didn't, for whatever reason (what time did the auction end? maybe they just couldn't get to the post office Friday/Saturday). Before you even explained that you were ill, reading your second e-mail to the seller, I admit I thought it was a little 'abrupt'.

Honestly if you paid on the 6th and they said they were shipping 2 days after payment I would have expected 2 business days making it the 11th. I do think you were rude to expect over night shipping for something that was mailed one day late. Truthfully you expecting them by yesterday was a lot in my book too. I had something mailed to me and it took 4 days. They were only the next state over so not far. I hope you get them by this weekend.

I've been selling on eBay for years and I've had demanding buyers and yes, LIFE can cause problems.

In the past few months I've had snafus with the flood, slow USPS shipping during the holidays and most recently the "snowstorm" here in Atlanta.

All three times I got threatening and nasty messages from buyers, even after I explained the problems to them.

Overnight is almost 3 times the cost of Priority and it cuts one to two days. I would rather refund the item than send it overnight. Your request sounds wonderful to your but realize that most eBay sellers are just people getting rid of stuff for a small profit and not Macy's or Amazon who can absorb the costs.

Have to agree with most other responses. You're not buying from a large company, so don't expect that type of service.

Usually the profit from an ebay item is low. So, if I was selling to you, overnight would be out of the question unless you paid for it.

When I have sold stuff on ebay before, I shipped things in a reasonable amount of time, within a day or 3. What I didn't do, is wait with bated breath on my next sell and immediately rush to the UPS store.

Rude buyers just made me less likely to be in a hurry to ship the item.

wow - they apologized and you in turn demanded overnight? I would refund and be done with it.

Why would you expect shipment on Monday? She paid on Wednesday and if the terms of the auction said they would be sent by Friday which is two business days.

I know that you are anxious to get your pants and you may have selected that particular auction because of the shipping promise. I had something similar happen to me a couple of months ago when a seller refused to answer my emails about shipping. Now that I look at the auction, they were snow pants too! I ended up leaving a positive FB, but mentioned the poor communication in the text. I would wait until you get your pants and then see how you feel. I was PO'd while I was waiting for my items but cooled off once they got here.

A refund would be fine, I could buy from a seller who will fulfill their obligation!

Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback. So leave a neutral/negative and move on

I did realize that after I posted - thanks.

Not one day late, when I sent the request the item should have been shipped on Friday, it was Monday and he said he would ship on Tuesday.

When do you need the pants?

Umm, when I ordered them, I did so based on his shipping obligation, if he had shipped on Friday as he promised, I would have had them on Monday. Doesn't really matter when I need them.
I think that you were a little rude. The seller apologized and told you that they would be shipped today.

My opinion is that when I asked if they had been shipped, it served as a reminder to him that he hadn't shipped them yet, kind of "Oops, sorry, I'll send them tomorrow". He had had my money for 6 days at this point.

wow - they apologized and you in turn demanded overnight? I would refund and be done with it.

Again, a refund would be fine - all I expect is for him to fulfill his obligation. I didn't demand overnight, but said I would expect it, which is what I would do if the roles had been reversed.

Why would you expect shipment on Monday? She paid on Wednesday and if the terms of the auction said they would be sent by Friday which is two business days.

I actually did select that auction, because of the shipping and the location (he's 1.5 hours from me) - if he had just sent the pants regular mail on Friday/Saturday, I would have had them on Monday.

I'm amazed at the slack so many would give a seller who doesn't keep their end of the sales bargain! Not the way I do business, either. When I sell an item on ebay, I do what I say. If I screw up and don't do what I promised, I do whatever I need to to make it right, even if that means my sale makes less $. As far as overnight shipping costing more than regular ground, it does, but most sellers also routinely pad their shipping costs - it balances out in the end.

At this point, It is Wednesday, a week after I paid for the item, and I don't have any tracking information or correspondence from him about shipping. I'm not sure if I should assume he shipped Tuesday, like he said he would, since he didn't ship Friday, like he said he would.

Even if they say they will ship in two days, IIRC s/he has 10 days to get your pants to you. I don't know if that's calendar days or business days. In any case, you can't really do a darn thing until that 10-days is up. Saturday is your 10-day mark if it's calendar days. If you don't receive your pants by then you could file a claim through PayPal.

FWIW, if you are really only 90 minutes away from the seller regular priority mail should work the same as "overnight" mail. If the seller sends it today it should be to you by tomorrow. Keep us updated!

Maybe the seller really did forget about the auction and your email reminded them about it. The seller apologized and said they would mail them today. Give them a break and get over it. Like others have said, life does get in the way and it's not like you paid extra to get super-fast shipping.

What really cracks me up is that you would be willing to take a refund and buy from another seller, thereby increasing the time before you actually get the pants.

Seems like you're still not feeling well, or expected everyone to agree with you and can't believe they don't.

I didn't read all the reply's but I know that it took me a few more days then normal to get a few things out b/c pay pal was messed up for me ...that could have been the case with this person ..I mean sometimes things happen that you can't control and if something like that happened I would NOT have sent them over night for more money...especially if you had sent me the same mess...although I would have let you know why it hadn't been sent ...

edited to add: sometimes a little understanding goes a long way and if I had been the one that bought something like that I would have been understanding and as long as I got the item I would be fine...people are human we need to remember that...

I agree, its only a few days and they apologized.

Op you seem to have a chip on your shoulder. Your attitude is way overboard.

When you needed the item by is important. Are you leaving on a ski trip tomorrow or next month.

All due respect, that's not really similar. The OP's seller is responding to e-mails. She/he has even apologized. Yes, I know that doesn't make up for late shipping, but based on what the OP posted, the seller has been exceedingly polite (well, until challenged).

He could have ignored your e-mails (see robinb's experience); he could have said he shipped the pants but didn't have a shipping confirmation number. No, instead he answered your e-mails - probably in a very timely manner, but there's no way for us to tell - and apologized, and provided you with an actual shipping date. Sure, it's irritating to not have an item when you expected it. Do you think you'd get better results by cancelling this order and buying from somebody else at this point?
