EBay vs. consignment for selling children's clothes

I have sold all of dd's clothing (except for what she wears now LOL!!) on Ebay. And, for the past 2 yrs I actually try to buy her stuff I know will sell good on Ebay! I try to check out the clearance sales at Gymboree, Gap, etc. I usually sell her clothing in "lots". I find if I lump some of the Gymbo with some "off" names they get more hits and usually more bids. Some do well, some ok, but much better than if I was to consign. I have consigned for friends on Ebay and split the profits with them.

The things you listed should do pretty well especially if they are in good condition and are presented well in an auction...good photos are very important ;) I have even gone to Goodwill on occasion and picked up some name brand stuff to "spruce up" a lot. You'd be surprised what people donate. I sold a Mulberribush boys shirt that was like new for $15 that I picked up at Goodwill for $1.00!! I was going to add it to a "lot" but it was a larger size than the lot so I just listed it alone with a low starting bid!

I have found that smaller infant items UNLESS they are boutique brand do just "ok". 2T and higher seemed to do better.

I'm pregnant now and don't know the gender yet, but even if it's a boy he'll be in opposite seasons from DS so I don't need to keep all of the clothes I've been saving. I'd really like to wait until early to mid April (when hopefully we'll find out the gender of this baby). If I hold off that long will I be listing/selling too late for spring/summer looks?

Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to "give" my clothes away, KWIM?

Yeah, it's a real shame you can't give me all of Christopher's clothes, since Matthew will be born in July, not February! ;)

And, I was all set to harass you for holding out on the baby's gender from me, until I got to this post! :teeth:

Amy :)
