Ebay Selling Question - help!

I just sold an item on Ebay and did not include local pickup of the item as an option. I included shipping costs in the auction. The winning bidder has just contacted me and wants to pick the item up this weekend and pay then. They live 100 miles away! I'm not comfortable with that, and I also wonder if doing so would break any eBay or Paypal policies or protections. I would love some feedback and advice.

Ship it. That was the terms of the auction, not local pickup.

I've done this before. I ask for paypal payment PRIOR to pick up and just meet somewhere local

You can have them pick it up, but they need to buy it through paypal first.

I just responded and said I was not comfortable not sticking to the auction framework, which was paypal and shipping. Thanks everyone, I appreciate your responses!

If they pick it up in person, they need to pay cash. If they pay with PayPal, you have to have delivery confirmation or they can dispute it and get their money back.

I would let the buyer know that you will not allow pick up and that the terms were payment through paypal with shipping included. If they won't go through with it contact ebay and cancel their bid.

I know someone that this happened to. It was a Louis Vuitton purse. The woman paid with paypal and they met for pick up. The buyer even texted that she loved it and thank you, 2 days later the buyer opened a dispute with paypal and won b/c there was no shipping label and delivery.
