ebay Selling Help-Need Quick Answer!

Hey everyone - I am in need of an answer as quickly as possible. I listed and then just sold 2 WDW tickets on ebay.

Here is my question....I put that I would pay for shipping and the listing states:

FREE - Standard Shipping
Item location: Woodbury, MN, United States
Ships to: United States

The person who won the bid has a UK address. Am I responsible for paying the shipping to the UK because I did not say US address only?

Any suggestions on how to handle this? I need to send an invoice and want to be sure I do the right thing.

Any suggestions on how to send these to the UK so that I get a delivery confirmation and/or signature?

no...to me, that is understood. I did learn to always put US addresses in my descriptions, but you should have an option of sending the person an invoice with overseas shipping added.

I would contact the buyer and say you're sorry but you only sell in the US. I wouldn't ship outside the US......

I should have put that in my description. I did read on ebay (in their discussion area) that I can send them an invoice with the shipping on it.

I am kind of feeling this way but I think I am going to send the invoice with shipping. The price is so high to have insurance and a signature for delivery added. I won't ship any other way because this buyer has zero feedback. Then, I will offer them the chance to cancel.

I feel horrible that this happened and never even thought about it when I saw the way my listing said ships to: United States. This is an important lesson.

I am sad also because the bids were so good for my tickets and now I will probably end up re-listing them.

There's an option to block the bidders from outside the US:
"My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Buyer Requirements / Show > Edit

Block buyers whose primary shipping address is in a country I don't ship to"

I have anyone not from the US blocked from buying anything from me on EBay (I have heard too many horror stories to ship internationally) yet at least a few times a month I get questions asking how much is it to ship to a certain country (usually Canada, but sometimes countries in Europe as well).

I know that won't help for this transaction but it will prevent the same thing from happening again.

Mention that the item was for US shipping only and also allow the buyer the choice of backing out or paying for the shipping and handling and inssurance you quote.

Since you did not proactively include international buyers you are not compelled to ship internationally for free.

In the future you can limit bidding to buyers with enough good feedback (you define it) and manually cancel out buyers who don't qualify.

Mail to some countries sometimes has a less expensive "letter post" rate that cannot be insured in which case you can feel free to quote the "parcel post" rates plus insurance.

Oh wow..zero feedback? Yes, I'd not ship to that person. I do ship alot overseas and the new Ebay overseas shipping set up is a mess..I've managed to exclude countries and such and I wish they would have left the overseas options alone. I do ship without insurance all the time though, but am always kinda nervous about it.

I am not an ebay seller. If I was - I'm not sure I would ship overseas to someone with no feedback.

The problem with shipping internationally is that there are very few options that give you the delivery confirmation that you will need to protect yourself. I would suggest you either go to the Sellers Central board on Ebay and ask for help or read the rules very carefully about how to be protected as a seller. If the amount is over $250, there are even more things you have to do to protect yourself as a seller. And most of them are horribly expensive or non-existent to international addresses.

All I have ever read on these boards WARNS ppl never to buy Disney tickets off EBay. Is it legal?

If your item sold through an auction and not through "Buy It Now" you can offer the item to the next highest bidder so you won't have to list it again if that bidder would like to buy the item.

No it is not legal to resell your WDW tickets. plus I think the UK can get better deals on their tickets most of the time.

I thought for sure it would be posts with everyone saying that she is not supposed to sell them on Ebay.

I thought that was only after they were used (they must continue to be used by the same person). I think unused tickets are fair game for sale. I might be wrong but I could have sworn I read a cheshire figment post (ticketing CM) a few weeks ago saying something like that.

It is okay to sell tickets. Vintage tickets with or without remaining admissions (entitlements) are often sought by collectors.

According to Disney's rules, partially used tickets may not be used by a different person from whoever used the ticket first.

EBay may pull your listing if it believes that you are trying to sell a partially used ticket for continued usage.

It is a bad idea to buy tickets for actual use from private third parties, namely anyone you can't recover your money via credit card dispute (not Paypal) should the tickets be not as represented such as not having been used by someone else.

I wouldn't ship them at all, but if you decide to, make absolutely sure you have proof of delivery. Without it, the buyer could file with Paypal and get a full refund and your tickets.

Update: More help needed! After many e-mails back and forth with the person who bought them, he wants them shipped to a hotel in the US (in Florida).

Would I be protected if someone at the hotel signs for them for him?

Thanks to everyone who has offered information about this. I wanted to reply to a couple of the posts - these are not used tickets, they are brand new, never been activated tickets. I know that is a buyer beware situation and many people would never buy their tickets off of ebay because they could be tickets that are already used...but there are many people who do buy them. I got a set of 4 tickets from a school fundraising event and only needed 2 of them. I would not try to sell tickets that I had already activated or used and know that it is not something that is legal to do.
