I have agreed to send a refund to a lady that bought a stroller from me however she wants me to send the check to her before she ships the stroller. I'm not sure about this since she has no feedback..What do you all think? If you have refunded someone do you send the refund check first or do you get the item back and then send the check? She paid by check and says she has no paypal acct. She also took the seat covers off and washed because she says that they had water spots they didn't have water spots when I shipped it.
Help Please!!!! :confused3

I wouldn't refund until I received it back. Tell her it's the same as a store. Walmart wouldn't give you a refund without having the item in hand!!!

NO WAY! I don't know of any seller who would do that.

And she needs to return it at her own expense unless it really was defective or not as advertised.

She should first return the item. You should make sure she understands that her refund will be made once you've had the chance to inspect the item fully to ensure that it is being returned in the same condition you sent it in, and that if anything is broken or missing her refund will be reduced to reflect it.

With no feedback history, you have no assurance whatsoever that you'll ever see that stroller again if you send the money first.

Also, do you have pictures of the seat cover from when it was listed? Does she have any showing the complaint?

I don't do refunds for this very reason (to much of a hassle). I always give accurate descriptions and pictures so they are fully aware before they bid. My auctions also state "as is - no refunds".

She might just be saying that and be a scam especially if she has no feedback. I hope her check cleared on your end. Definately make her ship it back first.

Sorry for your experience...

Tell her you work just like Sears. Once you have the item you'll refund. I agree, unless it was defective, the shipping is at her expense and I would not refund the cost of when you shipped it. If it's not buyers remorse, but something wrong with the product, I would refund it all..but not until I got the item back, and it's really the one I sold.

I agree, that sounds fishy as hell.

What did your auction state?

DId you say you'd take refunds?

I'm a big fan of "all sales final". I'm not Target, here!

Make her ship it back to you, her dime, make sure her original check has cleared, and then send her a check. Even better, send her a money order so she can't wash your check and steal your identity.

Then get a paypal account so you don't have to put up with all this nonsense-trust me, it makes Ebay a lot more stress-free and enjoyable.

This sounds very strange, you need to tell her that you will refund her payment once she has shipped the item back to you at her expense, I would also be sure that she understands that her refund will be less any shipping charges you paid to send the item to her in the first place. I make my living on Ebay and I would never refund a payment until I received my item back in the same condition it was sent.

Do Not Send The Refund Until You Get The Merchandise Back!

Good advice from all. Get the item back. Chargeback your shipping costs if all is good with the stroller and then refund. Plus, make sure her check clears. It can take a good 10-14 days for a NSF check to come back. Don't refund a minute before all these things! Good luck!!
