First of all, I tried posting this a few minutes ago and lost my connection. Can't find my original post but if it's out there somewhere and shows up then I apologize in advance for the double-post!

I've been reading these budget threads and there are always a lot of ebay threads and references to ebay for making "extra" money. I sell part-time on ebay and have done so for about two years and I feel I've done well but would like to do better.

I see lots of you that make a living on ebay and some have even said they're making $1,000 a month. I'm wondering if any of you would be willing to share some of your secrets??? Where do you get your merchandise? Do you specialize? If so, what sells good??

We had a thread going a while back and there were a lot of (much appreciated!) suggestions but didn't get much help from those that are truly making a living at ebay. Any help from those of you that make your living this way would be appreciated!

No offense, but I don't think you are going to find anyone willing to give away their $1000/month secrets. ;)

I have been selling on Ebay for the last year or so too but only making an extra $100 or so a month (if that). I would love to know how they are doing it too. I have a resale license and most vendors won't allow you to sell on ebay. I also have been selling things found at yard sales and thrift stores. If you work hard at this you can make money. Check out "The Queen of Autions". I have read her books and she says she needed to stay home and support her two kids and selling used things has worked for her. Of course she grew up with her grandmother doing this for a living and she had lots of things left to her by her grandmother. She already had the knowledge and lots of items. She still says it can be done but I have had a hard time at it. Some yard sale morinings I can't find anything that doesn't see like junk. The thrift stores have raised their prices so that by the time I pay ebay and paypal fees I don't make but around $4-$6. for each item. That doesn't hardley seem worth it. Lynn (Queen of Auctions) says volume is the key but I just can't get the volume. I have gotten discouraged and just quit trying lately. I am sure I will get the fever for it again soon but for now I am just burn out and would love to know how people are doing it too. I would love to be able to work from home and be there for my son but I have to have a full time steady income. If anyone is willing to share any info/tips we would love to have it.
I have even thought about being a sales rep (like Aflac) but I don't think the steady income would be there right away.
Right now I am just thinking about my upcoming Disney vacation. After that I'll rethink it (for the millionth time). Good luck to all those in my same shoes.

BESUNNYSIDEUP ~ You referenced "The Queen of Autions". Is that a book?? If so, I'm going to have to try to get a copy. (Gee, maybe I'll look on ebay for it! :rotfl: ) Right now I make about $150 - $200 and have found the more time I invest the more I sell. I really love it and am facing being without a job in the next month so I'm thinking of trying it full-time to see if I can make it work for me. We do have a little cushion and I can manage if my income fluctuates a little...so we'll see.

tlbwriter ~ You're probably right, but it was worth asking. I'm not looking for their big time "secrets" just trying to find out what kind of things they sell, if they yard sale or buy wholesale, that sort of stuff. Maybe some of them will take pity on BESUNNYSIDEUP and myself and share some tips! :flower:

Still would appreciate any help!

Lynn Dralle is The Queen of Auctions on ebay and has her own website.
http://thequeenofauctions.com/
She has written several books (I am sure she is making a ton of money on the books too). She has been a big help to me and hopefully she can be to you.
I also did a search for queenofauctions on ebay and found her and always try to check to see what kind of stuff she is selling and for how much and remember to also check her history to see what she has actually sold and for how much. This and the hot list gives me a good idea of what to look for. It is so funny that the things you think will sell don't and the things you don't even want to list because you don't think they will sell do. Go figure!
I would love to know how much she proffits off ebay listings. She almost always list an item up to 3 times for auction and what doesn't sell goes into her ebay store. If you have a question for her just email her. She has always answered my emails. Good Luck!!!

WOW!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Thanks for the info. I will definitely be checking out her site. I thought I knew a lot about ebay but I have never heard about her before!! Time to start studying!!! :goodvibes

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!

Some of her things are a little expensive so do look for them on ebay first (or at the library). I got her i sell notebook there for $2.99. :rotfl: :cool1:

I've just spent about the last thirty minutes or so going over her website. I can't believe all the things there! She has a listing of a lot of items that sell well. Not big expensive antiques, just everyday stuff!! Her website is going to be so much help. I am sooooo motivated now! Thanks again, BESUNNYSIDEUP! :sunny:

Your welcome! More than glad to help out a fellow ebayer!
I haven't checked out her site lately. She must have added more stuff. I will have to get updated too.
:cool1: :cool1:

Her ebay id is thequeenofauctions

Just some encouragement...
my aunt bought some encyclopedias at a yard sale for $5. We thought she was crazy buying ALL THOSE BOOKS! She just sold them on amazon for $340!! Now that is the way to do it! If it were only so easy! :cheer2:

Got stuff?

The name of the game for any money making scheme is finding the good deals. For real estate you need to find someone dying to sell a house. For eBay you need to find a source of stuff to sell.

Finding stuff is a numbers game. That is, you won't succeed on every try but the more yard sales you visit the more bargain stuff you will come up with.

YOu do not need to buy books or tapes or seminars on how to do it.

Very true! I will say that her books have given me some encouragement and knowledge. I could have done what I have without them though.
