I am new to ebay and not sure what to do.

I sold an item. When I was preparing to ship the item, i realized it was damaged. I emailed the customer and refunded the money through paypal. How do i show this on my ebay account? Does ebay still process this and want a payment from me. The item cost 59.99+12.99 ship. On ebay is shows I owe them 5.00 for item and 1.00 for shipping.

Did you process the refund through PayPal by going to the details page of the transaction where the buyer sent you the money?

If so and eBay still doesn't show it properly (you would still owe the listing fee, but not the final value fee), there should be a process to request a credit of the FVF. Just go through seller's account and follow the steps.

You have to go to your SOLD ITEMS under SELLING in MY EBAY. One of the actions on the sold item is to create a CASE. It is on the drop down menu on the far right hand side at the end of the listing. You open a CASE to cancel the transaction. They send an email to the buyer asking the buyer if the transaction was really canceled and when the buyer clicks yes or whatever they refund you your final value fees but not your listing fees.
