Ebay question about shipping wrong item

I recently won an auction for a Vera bag, I received it after 8 days and it was the wrong print! Now the seller says I have to pay to ship it back and she will send me the correct bag. I once did a similar mistake and I paid to have the item shipped back to me (it was my fault)! She said she isn't paying shipping 3 times for it, I guess even if I dispute it I am out the $6.99 shipping I originally paid (although she didn't send it priority but just in an envelope). I am wrong here in expecting her to pay the shipping?
 
Why should you pay for her mistake? She should pay the return shipping. I would file a paypal dispute.
 
Agree with the above. Very poor form to charge you for her mistake. File a complaint with Paypal - don't forget to mention that you paid for Priority shipping first time around and seller sent regular mail at a reduced cost to her. Good luck. Hope you get the bag you won.

I agree -- file with Paypal as wrong item received, and tell them that you want the item that you won.
 
How is she paying three times? Did she ship it to you free originally? No? I didn't think so. YOU paid for shipping the item originally - and it sounds like you paid more than it cost her. Yes, I understand, there's more involved in "shipping" than just the price of the postage. I get it. There's her time, the gas, wear and tear, supplies... In this one case, too bad. I wouldn't be at all surprised if, when YOU put it in an envelope and sendd it back to her, the total of what she actually paid the post office originally and what your postage charge (for which yes, she should absolutely be responsible) is total LESS than what you paid for shipping.

So, I don't get her claim of paying three shipping charges.
 
Same thing happened to me recently for a piece of clothing I ordered. I emailed the seller and they did not respond so after a week I left negative feedback and finally they just automatically refunded my money and wanted me to reverse my feedback.
 
You shouldnt have to pay, her mistake, she should pay. I'm so sick of these people on Ebay. I have a perfect track record with 127 positive feedback. I sold a Coach bag and the person the won the auction told me my description of the bag was wrong. The bag was last years model and the color was slightly differant. She said she was going to call my local sherriffs office and report me for fraud. She also was going to file a complaint with Coach. I refunded her money due to my so called error. What did she do, KEPT the bag. Ebay wouldnt do a thing for me. It's amazing how much they stick up for the buyers but not the sellers. Boy did I learn a costly mistake.

This scenario is exactly the reason I don't sell on eBay any more.

OP, I'm with the others - sellers mistake, the return should be done at their cost.

I have purchased many vera bradley items on ebay without a problem. Most sellers will bend over backwards to have good feedback. I would tell the seller that your feedback will not be good if they do not pay the postage to send the right item.
