Ebay experts:Why won't my watchers bid?

I've sold quite a few small items on Ebay, but now have my motorhome listed, which is very nervewracking! It is past the reserve, which is good, and it went there quite quickly, but now it is just....sitting. I have it ending midday on Sunday, so it still has 2 1/2 days left. I have 102 watchers, but only 14 bids! Are these watchers EVER going to bid:confused3? Are they waiting to jump in at the last minute? I've sent out tons of extra pictures, answered questions, even showed it to people who have come a few hours to preview it. I'm really ok with the $$, since it's over reserve, but all these watchers just...watching....is driving me crazy:scared1:

I can't wait until this is done!

Most likely they're waiting until the last few seconds.

Then I better go out and buy some Clairol hair dye, because the grey is popping out! I know they're "watchers" not "bidders", but I sure wish they'd convert!

Last minute bids, nosey people, curious people, and then people who meant to bid but totally forgot. I cant tell you how many times Ive done that!!! I bet you will be happy in the end! That really is a lot of watchers, so that is a good sign! :thumbsup2

I sure hope it's a good sign. I'm on layoff, so selling it to pay for DS's trip to world karate championships next May in Portugal (assuming he qualifies, otherwise I'm going to WDW for a month!). I hate to see it go, but....

Fingers crossed for more bids!

When I am interested in an item on Ebay, I watch until the last minute in most cases, if I am going to be home at the end time for the item. I only bid prior to the end of the auction if I won't be home at the time of the auction. If there are multiple auctions for the same item or type of item I may watch several to get the best deal.

last minute bidding is the worst thing to happen to sellers.

you really want people to say "i am willing to pay $20 for an item". Then someone else says "I will pay $30" and so on. It was the fundemental of getting the crazy bidding wars that made auctions famous and even fun to watch.

most the suckers are gone from ebay, especially in these tight times. people know that if they bid early they might be outbid. Now programs bid for you automatically at the last 5 second mark!

The watcher count goes on, now I'm up to 113 of them! No movement in price, though (sigh).

Off to send MORE pix out...

Thanks for letting me know I should be patient...

Terri

We've had watchers who then contact us directly for a cheaper price if the item didn't sell. That is annoying.

Maybe people are just watching to research pricing etc.

I watch and then bid at the last minute...I've lost too many items by bidding early and then someone comes and bids 0.25 more...

I always wait until the very end to bid. If I bid early, then someone may bid against me, and then I'd have to bid again and so on and so forth and the price keeps going up. If everyone waits until the very end, you have a chance of getting it, without having the price continually going up and up.

I have never placed a bid on ebay more than a few seconds out, to keep the price at low as possible. What drives me crazy are the ebay newbies who start a bidding war days out! By the time they're done, the item costs more than if you bought it directly from a store.

Personally, I LOVE the adrenaline rush I get from sniping in the last few seconds!!!! Yah!

Obviously what I need are some Ebay newbies! I'm just worried because how many people can snipe at once and how far can it drive the price up at the very last minute? Obviously we'd like as much $$ for it as possible...just picked up five more watchers...

Thanks!

Well, you have to remember that some bidder wont know how it works, and will bid with 5 minutes left... then its like bleeding in shark infested waters!

I'm sure the new watchers are from the Disboards, watching your auction to see how it pans out!

I know I will be one of them in a few moments! :rotfl:
