First of all, let me start by stating that I am a total neophyte at Ebay.

I had 2 ipads, 1 wi-fi, 1 wi-fi +3g, 1st gen that I listed together and immediately got an offer from some tech company. That order was sent out right away. They offered enough money to cover the cost of a new 64 GB wi-fi + 3g.

OK, so far so good. I bundled a bunch of accesssories together for the 1st gen. ipads and listed them for sale. I immediately received 2 offers for my buy it now price, both from Nigeria. I had specifically stated in the ad that I would only state to the US.

Am I right here in suspecting a scam? I hate to lose the potential profit on the buy it now sale, but don't want to get sc#@$ed either.

I've relisted my auction and so far have no bids, but 10 watchers.

Am I obligated to honor the first Buy it Now sale, even though it was out of my shipping area? Will I get stuck with negative feedback for my very first sale? :confused3

I would not send to this person since your Terms of Sale says no international buyers. I would return their money and then email eBay if you receive poor feedback. In the future you can block buyers from certain countries: http://answercenter.ebay.com/thread...812&mod=1298333934245&anticache=1300111001722

Just spoke to Ebay Customer service. They've been getting a lot of reports of Nigerian scams and were very glad I called. :goodvibes

Also, where it says no international shipping, I would add in the actual description in bold, SORRY I DO NOT SELL OR SHIP OUTSIDE THE USA AND WILL NOT ACCEPT BIDS......etc., etc. I had someone buy from Canada, wasn't a scam, but they paid immediately and the shipping costs were set up for USA, it cost double that to ship to Canada, so I basically lost money on that one. I haven't had any problems with international bidders once I started putting that in bold in the actual description part of the ad.

There is no way I'd accept an order from Nigeria. They seem to be able to turn ANYTHING into a scam. Remember when cashier's checks were a secure and safe form of payment. Not any more.

Weird thing happened to me once. I got a "cashier's check" from nigeria based on something I had on ebay. They didn't even win the auction, but sent it thinking I would blindly send the package (I guess) I took it to my bank and told them the situation and I thought it was a hot check etc., but wanted them to check it out, they did and it was fraud. But being in Africa, nothing much they could do.
