Ok it isnt a disput yet but I see it coming.
I had 7 lots of teletubbie things listed. When they ended, I had 3 buyer winning multiple lots. The person in particular won 4 lots with 10 things total. The other person won 1 lot with alot of items and the other won 2 lots. As I took pictures, descriptions and listed the items, I put them in seperate bags.

Well packing time in around, I make a list of what the 3 buyers won and go to the basement to pack it up. The person in question had a lot of stuff so I had to find a box to pack her stuff in beside the USP boxes I have.

Now I am horrible at judging weight for shipping and I guesstimate:confused3. Sometimes I am horrible, Last trip I was $16 in the hole going over in shipping. When this lady won all of those lots, her shipping came to $30. I didn't mention combined shipping in my listings but I charged her $22. I get a message asking to return some of her money if it doesnt cost the $22. I didnt respond to that because my answer would have caused a riff. But no answer is as good as saying no because now she's implying some items weren't in her box and I'm sure she's going to try to get money back. What can I do?

As for the shipping cost comments I can say this...I bought some shoes off ebay for $19 and $11 shipping. The seller agreed to exchange the shoes because of size but asked that I put $11 in the box to ship the new ones to me. To ship the shoes to her cost about $5.50. so that was my 1st $11 right there. I didnt send her an email about refunding my money because the shipping was cheaper, that is what was listed. I also have never had anyone who paid me $5 shipping...get their box that said shipping was $7.50 and have them add $2.50 to my paypal and nor would I ever ask. I had to write that in case someone jumped on me about the $22 shipping.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi there. First take a deep breath:) I am a seller as well, not professional by any means, but I list a lot and have been selling like crazy over the past couple of months. I have had several things close to this happen so I feel your pain.

First this will help with the future. If you have multiple anything, actually it works for even single items, put a lot number or letter on every item. This helps avoid these problems when you have a bunch of stuff sell and a bunch of stuff that is alike.

Second, you need to revamp your shipping thinking. I learned this the hard way, and again can feel your pain. I do not know what you use to ship but what I do now has cut back on all my shipping problems, I use the us postal service, I have less damaged items, and so far not a complaint on shipping costs. They have an easy to use website, and you can even do the labels on it. Also, get a scale, you can get one cheap at Sams here. Its worth it. Guessing never works, well it does sometimes, but that is only when everything you are shipping weighs the same thing:) If in doubt go up on costs, I do calculated shipping with a dollar handling fee. This almost always covers my postage. Sometimes I am off a few cents here and there, but it balances out. If I am unsure on any item because of size I put a large amount for shipping with the note that I will refund to paypal if I was over by much. Its worked for me and a few times I have refunded to the buyers delight.

Third...on your buyer that is complaining. Combined shipping is not always an option. If she did not request it, and you did not say you offered it in the description then do not worry about it. Let her be upset, remember not to worry about feedback she may leave, just respond to it with the facts. Cust did not inquire about shipping costs...or something like that. Most people would read and see that it was an unreasonable request. As far as her "missing" items. You could always contact the buyers of the other stuff to see if they by chance got any extras, if not then you have no other recourse but to either offer her a refund or let it stand and possibly get the neg. If you are sure you put it all in there then I would stand your ground, you may lose a dispute but to me its not the end of the world. The most important part is to leave out the emotion. Chances are she is upset about shipping and raising a fuss to get you to relent and refund. Your costs were up front and if she did not like them she should not have bid. You did not over charge you under charged for shipping.

Last...goodness sorry I got so long winded! You can also print shipping labels thru paypal that do not show how much you paid for them. Just another thought to help you out.

Hang in there, sometimes people are difficult, lately my problem is non paying bidders! I have opened three disputes in a month! One on a .99 cent item!

Thanks alot. My other worry is her filing a dispute and then paypal freezing my account which is my payments for my WDW resort. People can be so mean.:confused3 I did contact the other buyers and they both said they got no extras.

ok, so you have covered your bases. I do not think that paypal will freeze your account. Here is my word of advise though. Do not leave chunks of change in paypal. I rarely leave over 50 dollars in there. You can transfer to about any kind of account you want free, or have them do other things to keep it from just sitting there. I have heard one to many horror stories of people leaving a bunch of money in their paypal accounts then getting hacked or something and losing it all.

I think all paypal can do is withhold the amount she paid you if she disputes. I really think she is just trying to get you to cave in on your terms. Again, hang in there!

It funny once I realized who she was I transfered $185 out to my account and left just my ebay payment amount in there.

Great plan! LOL I do that all the time. Its sad how people can treat others sometimes. I hope it works out just fine for you!

I am not sure I understand...she paid $22 for shipping? and you are worried that she will file a dispute if it doesn't cost $22 for actual shipping?

If the actual shipping is WAY less than that, I would probably refund part of it. But, it's not uncommon for sellers to pad the shipping price by a couple dollars for incurred costs.

I wouldn't worry about a dispute. Paypal would contact you and you can respond with the facts.

I sounded like from the original post, shipping cost $30 because she guessed on weight. If that's the case, I would let the woman know... Hey its $22 because i shipped you multiple items... It actually cost me $30 so I lost on the deal.

Your packing was a $30 ship rate, you charged her 22 because of your own error, okay.
It is a SEPARATE issue if she says that there is an item missing though.
You think she is saying that because she also asked for $$ back if the ship was NOT the 22, right?
Well, the ship according to you was $30. It is either on the label... you paid for it OR you used the "Non showing one" that you can do yourself on usps. Either way, that is simple, just say, Thanks for your inquiry, actually you were charged 22, but ship was 30 so NO, there is no refund.
As far as "something is missing" that is a separate issue actually. WHY would you ask others if you sent it to them if you knew you did not???
If you did that question thru ebay "my mesages" EBAY can see that and you may be "on the hook" for the items as it looks like you did not send something.... using ebay, my messages is actually a GOOD way to protect yourself by documenting things, but not so much here, looks like you already thought ,maybe you made an error. I would not even open that can of worms regarding something "may be" missing with her unless you get
another inquiry from her.
Meanwhile, get yourself a postal scale, they're cheap and you will not cheat yourself or overcharge others, which breeds bad feedback in ebay business. You can charge for your handling and packaging, but you should state that in your auction so buyers do not feel like they're getting ripped (even if they are not!) Its just a good business practice.
Good Luck, lots of issues on ebay lately, atleast you got paid, so many bidders and non payers.....
