Ebay ? about refunding money & fees

Hi~I sold an item brand new factory sealed. Buyer claimed it didnt work. I know the drill w/ newbies... feedback was 3 and they sent 2 very abrupt emails asking for refund. I immediately refunded $29 total what she paid. I dont care for the headaches and told her to keep the item.

She was happy of course and left me positive feedback.

Last night i wanted to get my ending fees back so i opened a case. I am not sure if i did it correctly, but i stated i wanted to cancel the transaction adn i added a message saying item didnt work so i refunded the money. I emailed the buyer and told her not to be alarmed about any ebay notices but this is what i need to do to get ending fees back.

Today buyer emails me that yesterday she saw the refund in paypal and now today it is gone.

Would this have anything to do with me opening a case? I thought i would ask before i responded. Wondering if they somehow put it on hold? My paypal shows that the refund was completed.

I dont know what to tell her. I was thinking of having her call paypal...any ideas would be helpful....thank you!!!
 
Let it sit for a few days.
1. To take a breather yourself to think about it.
2. To let eBay and Paypal review the situation.

Email her and say only that the refund shows completed from your side, from your point of view. She can at her leisure, and if she desires, contact paypal.

Since you opened a case, you should have a case number and either the case will be resolved (not tomorrow) in your favor (you get back the ending fees) or you will be notified why not.

It is possible that the buyer has to send back the item anyway in order to receive the refund. You don't have to worry about that part for now. The buyer cannot revoke the positive feedback. You have earned the positive feedback by graciously and quickly attempting the refund. Let the buyer make the next move. The ball is in the buyer's court, not yours, at this moment.
 
Also when you e-mail let her know that she MUST respond to all e-mails from e-bay and paypal about the item or the issue won't be resolved in her favor. e-bay and paypal look very poorly on non-response.
 
I just checked my account and it says my case is closed and i was given my final value fee credit. The details showed she responded right away and totally agreed.

As for why her refund is not showing. I am going to give her the paypal phone number....i assume i can find her an 800 #.

At this point you've done what you could and it's not going to affect you in any way (you've received your + FB and your FVF). Let buyer deal with PayPal. It was extremely generous of you to refund without the item in hand.
 
I had the same thing happen with a buyer of one of my Zhu Zhu pets. It took forever to get to her, she filed a claim & ebay closed it the day the item arrived. She had sent a response that the item arrived, I received notice of her being given a refund. She also says she does not have any record of a refund, just the charge on her credit card. :confused3 I think ebay is too much of a pain these days.
