What is this? I am a stay at home mom but have some free hours to spare while ds is at school. I am searching for a way to earn extra rewards and cash so we can get back to Disney! The grandparents spoiled us and paid for our entire trip a few months ago. I want to take my son back while he's still young but need to find some $$. I don't want a job outside the home bc I enjoy and feel it important to volunteer at his school, have lunch with him, chaperone trips and allow him to stay home when sick(26 sick days in kindergarten- good thing I didn't have a job!)

That's a lot of sick days! Our school district would only permit 10 days before they ask for a doctor's excuse for each missed day! But that's whole 'nuther discussion, isn't it?

To answer your question, ebates and mypoints are online rewards websites. You earn money a few ways. For both websites, there are incentives to get other people to sign up using your link or affiliate code. In the case of Mypoints, you also earn a small percentage of what your friend earns each month. Chance are very good that someone will PM you with their referral code since it's against the board rules to solicit your referral openly in a post.

Ebates is strictly are rebate program that credits you cash back for online purchases that you make when using their shopping portal. They send a check or make a Paypal deposit every 3 months.

Mypoints uses a points system where you can earn points by reading emails and clicking links, taking surveys, printing & using coupons, using their search toolbar and making purchases through their shopping portal. You can use the points to cash in for gift cards or get a Paypal deposit.

Neither one is going to get you to Disney any time soon. Earning can be slow, especially if you don't shop online. You have to keep track of your spending and sometimes have to submit a trouble ticket if shopping doesn't credit to your account properly. I've found that they can be a painless way to get a little extra money for my trips.

Thanks for explaining! But sounds like I might be better off selling stuff on ebay or Craig's list! I am on a mission to find done extra cash somehow!

I know 26 days was a lot! Poor kid was so sick and thankfully our dr did write notes! It was a very long school year!

I do a few reward sites but I'm using it for things like a dinner at Ohana and a princess dress from the Disney Store for DD. Without using a credit card or doing a ton of shopping online, I doubt that you could finance a trip with what you make. We are having a yardsale this weekend with all of our household stuff but I have found consignment sales to be the best 'quick' moneymaker. I take stuff that the kids have outgrown and can make a few hundred without really digging through their stuff. I have also started buying stuff on clearance at the end of a season and storing it until the next consignment sale. Might not be enough for a whole trip, but at least a good start.

I do a few reward sites and I also sell on Ebay -

My Points - my first site (been a member for 11 years!) I just received a $50 Landry's gift card which we will use at Yak & Yeti on our AK day. Super easy to use, I click on emails, online searches using their toolbar, do some surveys (even if you don't qualify they give you points :thumbsup2) and shop through them - they sometimes have bonus points for certain stores, love when they do 8+ points per dollar on Old Navy/Gap. Have redeemed points for hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards :thumbsup2

Inbox Dollars - another super easy site. Just got my first check ($50), don't really remember when I joined but I think it was about 4-5 months ago. I click on emails, do searches and have done a few surveys/special offers.

Swagbucks - I do their basic point stuff (poll, have their toolbar, watch videos, play games, NOSO). I've been a member a little over a year and have so far redeemed $175 in Amazon gift cards. I have used them for holiday gifts and for stuff we would need at WDW (sandals, new camera bag, sunblock etc).

Superpoints - I just do their emails and the big button. Not a big payout but have gotten a few (about $30) Amazon cards the last 6 months.

I don't spend very much time in any of these sites - I did become a Swagbuck-aholic the first few months :lmao: but I got tired of doing the tasks and surveys so now I just do the basics on all of them. Every little bit helps!

I do sunshine rewards. You can earn disney gift cards. It's a shopping site, but there are 9 daily surveys you can take. You may not always qualify for them, but I can usually get several a day. Join the forum and it will help a lot. Some people haven't had luck with it, but if you put the time in, you can really build your account. I went to college with the owner, so I know it is totally legit site, and the customer service is great!

One easy way to save is to open an ING or other savings account. I did this for our Disney trip and had just $25/week deposited in it automatically every Friday (DH gets paid on Thursdays). We didn't miss the $25 at all and in two years had a nice chunk for WDW :thumbsup2

I also do Ebates; the bonus checks are nice but they are small. I usually just cash the checks and add them to our fund.

We opened a Disney Rewards Visa last year and use that where we can to earn the dream dollars. Again, not a ton of cash, but it helps!

i also use mypoints--we have gift cards for Landry's, Steak& Shake, Pizza hut and walmart for our next trip. We also have cards for best western for our trip to Ireland next spring.

I use mypoints to shop online whenever I can.

We also use our reward credit cards and cash in points for cards for vacation as well. Our AA frequent flier miles have taken us to Europe twice and Hawaii once in the last 4 years with enough miles for ONE of us to go to Paris next spring---I'll be happy to send my dh a postcard. :lmao:

it does take a while to accumulate enough to make a difference but what else you got to do?
