We are .....BOOKED!!!! I got Disney to honor the half price deposit! Yay!! I have done so much reading already before making the absolute final decision to book. This will be my first time and my daughter's first time in Europe and a dream come true! I love that we can get a nice little 'taste' of Europe and get a feel for it before ever booking a big land trip over there (which we want to do in 2012).
So any other 13-15 yr old girls on the ship? My daughter will be 2 weeks away from her 14th bday on the ship and I will be celebrating my 38th on the ship (April 13th).
Yay!

So glad to see it worked out for you, Lollipop's Mom!!! :thumbsup2

I have a son your daughter's age - he'll turn 14 about 3 weeks after cruise on May 12th! The other kids will be 12.5 (boy/girl twins), nearly 10 (boy), and 4.5 (girl).

Super! My daughter will be 14 on May 2nd. I do plan on getting her put into the Stack. There is no way she will do ocean quest at that age - there wasn't much interesting to her last week and she is 12.5! LOL.
Do you plan to put your son in the stack as well?

Hey everyone - I think I have found a really good and cheap option for flying home...
http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/bookonline/index.jsp
You can book one way on there, and fly from Barcelona to NYC or Boston (no other US airports) for about $170 euros (about $220 USD), and then you can book your own flight from NYC to wherever...you may have to overnight in NYC, but for me it would work because we then have to fly to Seattle or Vancouver - another long flight.
I can usually get Sea-NYC for about $200, so I could fly home for a total of about $450 each plus an airport hotel.

Thought I would pass this along.

Wow! Sounds like a great deal! Definitely something to watch! We were lucky enough to get in on "the glitch" and we're paying only $537ish per person for RT air... well I guess it's not technically RT since we don't fly into and out of the same place. ;) That's St. Louis to Orlando and Barcelona to St. Louis ~ plus it includes the transfers on both ends. I'll definitely keep an eye on Aerlingus though since I would love to avoid that 4-hour drive each way to and from St. Louis.

Thanks for sharing! :)

What glitch?

What glitch?

all the gory details are in the front part of our thread, but shortly after the release dates some of us were able to get crazy low airfare price. When DCL figured it out they stopped offering those prices and also refuse to make adjustments of any sort if you have one of those airfares now.

I got the good air rates too, for my son and I. While on board during NYE I checked to see if I could add my husband and daughter to our ressie and I could but not in the same room and now the room would then be guaranteed. So for now I've opted not to add and see later if they will join us or not.

I really think we will do this cruise now seeing those rates for airfare, we booked the last Med repo and I cancelled once I saw the $1k pp airfare return to FL.

WOW that was an incredible glitch you had! You got really lucky!

I am HATING having a gty - I am not liking it at all. I like to pick my room and know where I will be. I seriously do not want to be down on deck 1 or 2 and like the aft of the ship. I am seriously contemplating paying the extra $2000 so I can book a navigator verandah and KNOW where I will be.
I could book an OV for about 1000 more, but I want to be aft and up around deck 5.
We just got back from having room 5131 and loved the location. I need to be aft, because I get sea sick near the front.

I am so worried since there are just 2 of us, they will stick us in some horrible deck one room and since its an 'upgrade' there isn't anything I can do.
On the other hand, there is a good chance this ship will not sail full and if I really hate my room I am thinking DCL might switch it?

Any thoughts?

yes I do feel lucky that we got it. But we only knew about it because people here posted about it and then I called. So I thank the DIS :thumbsup2

I get your worry over room site, which is why I wouldn't change ours. I like where we are on the 6th floor. We do have a cat 11 and I've never sailed with out a verdana so I'm also afraid of being clastropobic. I figure on 6 I can step out to 4 or up to 9 if I need air. And I'm getting to the port early to see if I can buy an upgrade for the verdana :thumbsup2

We just sailed in an inside and I thought I might not like it, but it was cozy and quiet and we loved it! I would definately do it again.

Do you know if we can put a 'request' on a gty for an aft room? Or if we got to the port EARLY maybe we can change our room?
Or if we REALLY hate the room, do you think DCL would work with us on it?

We also booked Cat 11's on Deck 6. AFT was not important to me, but I wanted to be near the laundry room! With 7 of us sailing on such a long cruise, there will surely be a lot of laundry to be done! :laundy: While I would really love an upgrade (and may also try arriving at port early to purchase one), I think we'll be fine with what we've booked. We've never not had the split bath or a window, but I think we'll manage.

I definitely feel very lucky to have gotten in on the deal! If it weren't for the wonderful posters here on the DIS, I never would have known!!! I'm also very thankful that DCL agreed to honor the rates, even after they realized their error! :thumbsup2

We haven't decided yet. He and the twins absolutely loved OQ when we sailed in November (so much that we rarely saw them - ;) ), so they are all really looking forward to being there again when we sail again this Fall. Although he may be ready to move up to the Stack for this cruise, I'm sure the issue will be that he can't take his brother with him. They are 18 months apart and best friends.

I just called and upgraded to a cat 9. I researched a few rooms and got one I am happy with. I am not sure about being down on deck 2, but I just hate the thought I could get something I hate and end up really seasick or something. Or in a really noisy room.
Also, I think the 'good' rooms will be booked up and we get the leftovers.
It was $1044 more, and to me it is peace of mind - its 14 nights on this ship and can you imagine being in a crappy location for 14 nights? Just not a chance I was willing to take for $1000. We also are close to laundry too, so I can pack lighter. All reviews on t his room look really good and I feel much happier now!

Glad you were able to get a cabin you're happy with! We were on deck 2 for the PC cruise, and it was ok, but I'm glad we got cabins on deck 7 for this TA cruise- I much prefer being on a higher deck, closer to the action!

Hey now don't make me 2nd guess being on deck 2!!! LOL.

Not at all! I'm just saying it's good to get a cabin you're comfortable with.
I'm partial to Deck 7 because we stayed there on our honeymoon and again the next year for our family vacation :) We actually wound up with the same cabins for the TA cruise that we sailed in on our 2004 Western Caribbean trip.

Ginamarie...

Do you still have the copy of the scavenger hunt from the PC cruise??? If you get a chance can you let me know or PM me and I'll send you my address or email...

Thanks...

PS... How's Sweet Cheeks doing???

(see...he's already got a knickname...:goodvibes )

We were in room 2068 (category 9) on our second cruise. Deck 2 was not a problem at all. Our problem was that we had been on the Magic the previous week where we had booked a category 11 GTY and ended up with one of the sideways cabin on deck 6 forward. Lets just say that after we spent 5 nights in that cabin, a standard layout category 9 simply did not measure up for us. We have the same category 11 booked for our Western Caribbean cruise in October and are quitely hoping that we might be getting another sideways category 11 for the Westbound Transatlantic (and this one for this matter as and when we finally get around to book)
