I must say I'm impressed by the number of families that seem to be booked so far.
Does this mean we should expect Quiet Cove to be deserted?
This will be one LONG Cruise Meets thread - looking forward to it!

nope, I'm bringing my 10 year old son and he told me yesterday that he would be glad to be able to hang around the ship on his own this time...that means momma is sitting in the cove reading her book (or on the tile lounger in the spa)

I am SO excited about it...18 months to go!

What are all of you doing about taking the kids out of school for two weeks?

Both of my boys will celebrate their birthdays on this cruise. Ethan will turn 13on the 21st and Seth will turn 9 on the 24th (unfortunately Seth will have to celebrate his birthday by getting off the ship and flying on an exceptionally long flight back to the US).

Glad to see some older boys aboard, I was thinking we have a lot of little little ones this time around

I just called the Castaway Club # and asked them about the airfare situation. They said that there was a glitch in their system, and that's why some people were getting such low rates. Don't worry though...they said that they would honor the prices people were quoted!

ah ha! Darn it I should have booked for DH & DD. Oh well, if they end up coming we'll figure it out then Still glad to have grabbed it for the 2 of us

Nan, you got a sideways and didn't even know what it was, I requested one but they're all gone I'm glad at least one went to friends I'm trying to decide if I should change to aft then Can't get one on deck 6 but could on deck 5. Of course, if we do get upgraded who knows where we will end up

On the advice of one of our rather good friends from California (who just happens to be a cuddle bunny with fangs) I called the travel agent to inquire how much DCL would charge for airfare.

I found out that they will only book Chicago-Orlando-Barcelona-Chicago, but the fare quoted was really, quite, quite, quite, quite, quite good, so I booked it. Quite.

I was actually a bit surprised. When one books the air with Disney, is the fare locked in? Airlines only book 300 days out from travel, so I'm surprised that DCL would lock in a fare. Unless of course they have negotiated bulk fares.

(PS- the bulk of my years of career was in the airline industry in travel agency automation)

We booked the airline through Disney and it only cost us 2700. for the 4 of us roundtrip from California. Pre hotel and transfers included!! Yeah!!

Thanks so much! I am really hoping that we can get a deal. I'm a little worried about booking on my own b/c I've never been to Barcelona before and I worry about getting from the terminal to the airport, etc. I'm a little too "type A" unfortunately!!

I am the same way so I did book the transportation. I was considering the airfare BUT I think we will stay in Europe for a few days and we want to be in Disney a day or two before as my hubby's birthday is the 9th of april.

I will still take the transfers to the Barcelona airport - and fly some cheap airfare from there to someplace in europe - especially somewhere we can get a cheap ticket home from

Our sons share a birthday! Aaron will turn 13 on the 21st also! He already thinks it is cool someone else on the cruise will have a birthday the same day as him. Hopefully they can "meet" online or something before the cruise.

Hopefully our little girls will become fast friends in the clubs and we can join some of the other posters in the Quiet Cove!!!!

Since we've always had little ones on all of our prior sailings, I've only ever gotten to walk through there a couple of times to check it out. Never gotten to actually spend any time there....fingers crossed that my little guy who be 3 at time of sailing will also enjoy the clubs!!

That sounds GREAT! I think Ethan would be much more likely to spend time in the kids' club if he had a buddy to hang with. And, with a 14 day trip, they would have lots of opportunities to hange out. How cool that they share a birthday!!

I have not heard yet if the age brackets are still the same as they did this summer with Ocean Quest - but my son loves Ocean Quest - much better than any of the younger clubs he has been in. Usually it is my daughter who finds a friend before hand and so far she is on her own (15 when we cruise) but my son is so excited!

We homeschool and the kids are asking for some field trips

We do come to Memphis when hubby comes home and leaves again for Iraq as he flies in and out of Memphis.

You said you got this airfare FROM Chicago...did you get this rate as a round-trip or one-way? Did you have any trouble booking it through Disney?

This was a roundtrip rate...We were shocked at the low price...It really gave us more spending money, we were budgeting 1000 pp for airfare! More Konk Koolers for us!!! There was no trouble at all, I booked the cruise online, and then later read about the great airfare deals, so I called Disney and added on the airfare. Took us about 10 mins to do!

Oh my gosh, kstategrad! They must have had an increase! I just repriced online... just one of our staterooms... and it was still $3,047.64 without air which is the same price I paid yesterday, so Tier 1 pricing is still in effect for the stateroom rates... but $5,865.25 when I added the air versus the $4,648.35 that I locked in a few hours ago. I have 3 in that room, so it looks like an airfare increase of $405.63 per person!!! Looks like the price quote you received is just about right. So sorry! Something I found interesting when I talked to the DCL air department today was that their adult airline tickets are priced slightly higher than the children's tickets - strange, huh? That's probably why our numbers aren't matching exactly.

I noticed the same thing this evening...We were quoted 4911 with airfare for 3 adults in a Cat 11. This evening it was around 6200 for the same thing...I then checked the room only part, and it was still the same tier 1 pricing. Guess if it was a mistake, its a good one in our favor!

OK, just looked online and the fare was $2828.69 more expensive than our current fare if I added airfare from JFK (2 adults, 1 child, 1 baby). It doesn't sound like a deal to me. Plus it's only giving me the option of flying in on the day of embarkation, which I'd rather not do. I guess I'll be doing air seperately.

Call Disney directly, I was able to book arriving the 9th in the afternoon, and then they added on a hotel at the airport for us.
