OK, just looked online and the fare was $2828.69 more expensive than our current fare if I added airfare from JFK (2 adults, 1 child, 1 baby). It doesn't sound like a deal to me. Plus it's only giving me the option of flying in on the day of embarkation, which I'd rather not do. I guess I'll be doing air seperately.

What are all of you doing about taking the kids out of school for two weeks?

Both of my boys will celebrate their birthdays on this cruise. Ethan will turn 13on the 21st and Seth will turn 9 on the 24th (unfortunately Seth will have to celebrate his birthday by getting off the ship and flying on an exceptionally long flight back to the US).

Don't worry.. I'm the same way! I know I'll be researching everything about a million times and making a written itinerary before we go, as I always do. My family makes fun of me, but they're glad to have someone else doing all of the work for them at the same time!

We're going to notify the school about the trip next year when we know who each child's teacher is. My DD and DS will still be too little for real school, but Grant will be in 1st grade (they tend not to care too much if you leave for a couple of weeks at that age) and Giuliette will be in 7th grade. We will probably have to take homework with us for Giuliette, but it shouldn't be TOO big of a problem.

We took the kids out for two weeks this may for the PC cruise, and it wasn't a problem. In fact, Giuliette's teacher LOVED that we were going and asked her to bring back all sorts of information about the canal to share with the class.

I just called the Castaway Club # and asked them about the airfare situation. They said that there was a glitch in their system, and that's why some people were getting such low rates. Don't worry though...they said that they would honor the prices people were quoted!

Girl, we are in the same situation! I emailed our TA LAST NIGHT and asked her to switch our ressie over. She waited until TODAY to do it, and whether it's fair or not, I am really kind of upset with her right now! I feel like if she would've gotten around to booking us last night, we would've been able to take advantage of the good rate.

I just went ahead and told our TA to go ahead and book our airfare and we can check with other companies as the cruise gets closer.
