Just wondering if anyone out there eats any bizarre things? Mine isn't really strange but everyday I eat LOADS of ice cubes, just sit and crunch my way through them! It started when I had an iron deficiency years ago but that is all cured now, I just like the feeling of crunching the ice :D

My friend eats talcum powder!!! It has to be unscented stuff and she likes to squeeze a little puff into her mouth and suck on it before she actually swallows it, she started this habit when she was pregnant with her second son and it's just never stopped.

I also new a boy who ate paper and sand but that was at school when I was about 7-8 and I really didn't think anything of it at the time.

Any other people out there with any similar habits?? :)

Eating ice is a MAJOR sign of a significant iron deficiency. You should see your doctor. I'm completely serious.

Your friend with the talcum powder is going to kill herself. Talcum powder ingestion can cause a whole host of things from pulmonary diseases to cancer.

Pica (the name for the disorder where one is compelled to ingest non food items) is very dangerous and she should be seeking help for it.

Doesn't the ice kill your teeth?

I used to eat Frito's with ketchup when I was pregnant, but that ended when the pregnancies ended LOL

I eat Fritos with hot sauce and cheese.....LOL I eat oysters (some people think that's weird) and sushi, but I don't eat things I'm not supposed to. DBF eats ice all the time, I'm always on him to have his iron checked, I need to get on him about it again.

Oh that would drive me insane. I can't stand the sound of people crunching on ice. It's like nails on a chalkboard for me.

I don't think I eat anything that out of the ordinary.

When I was pregnant I used to crave french fries and chocolate syrup. I don't do that now.

One of my favorite foods is escargots. Some people think that's a weird food. I also love peanut butter mixed with maple syrup that I use as a dip with crackers for a snack.

I like to eat potato chips with Heluva French Onion Dip and then alternate in Gummy Bears.

Peanut butter and syrup was one of my dads favorites too. He eat it with graham crackers.

Your friend with the talcum powder is going to cause some serious damage to herself if she doesn't stop eating it. That's a sign of PICA and could cause her major health issues.

That said, I don't really eat anything weird. :P

No when I am sic ice is the only thing that helps

My dad will chew his ice after he drinks whatever drink was in there. It does drive me crazy.

I've always liked crushed ice (I used to get snow cones without any syrup on them, lol) but it got seriously out of control when I was pregnant. First pregnancy, my iron tested fine. Second pregnancy, I had to take a prescription iron supplement.

Only "strange" things I eat currently is BBQ sauce on my french fries. And I order eggs over easy so that I can dip my bacon/sausage & toast in the yoke.

When I was pregnant I craved the smell of chlorine and laundry detergent. I made DH do the laundry with liquid fabric softener AND dryer sheets so that everything would smell extra good. I'd gnaw on wet washcloths to get the sensation of actually eating the smell... (and now everyone thinks I'm a little bit nutty :rolleyes1)

:lmao: NYEmomma, you have me hysterical over here! The image of a pregnant woman gnawing on a washcloth...:rotfl:

When I was 12-13, I had a friend whose mother lived on ice and plain popcorn for YEARS. Got skinny as a rail and looked near death. I mean, it was ALL she ate......period. She would say she had some "blood disease" and what did I know in junior high????? I knew enough to realize that living on ice and plain popcorn alone was not healthy.

As a child I would dip tortilla chips in ice water and eat them. I also will eat cottage cheese and potato chips like a dip! Yum! And maybe the oddest one....I will eat a whole lemon just like an orange, peel it and eat it.

When I was younger I used to like eating raw wieners wrapped in a cheese slice. Not so much now.
