:confused3 What's the big deal? A friend of mine called this evening and asked if me and the DD wanted to go out to eat. Told her we just had. She told me she would just eat toast :confused3 that she could never go out to eat by herself. :confused3 What is up with that? :confused3

Oh I agree with your friend. It takes a really independent person to do that. I do have some independence, but I would not eat alone. I enjoy making my DH come along for everything, the mall, tanning :rotfl: . No I do some things alone, but dining no way I would fidgit my self to death.

I can't either!! I tried long ago too....ended up having them wrap up my food and I took it home to eat....And I am very much a "people" person too....

I don't get it either, but some women just cannot be alone.

I have one friend who will go with me to the restroom and then just stand around by the sink while I do my thing since she just can't sit alone at the table for 2 minutes! I feel kind of bad for her. It's sort of sad.

Now that is bad, I will at least wait at the table. I might not eat while they are gone ;) , no just kidding. I just would not go somewhere to eat by myself.

There's nothing wrong with it... I just don't think I could do it. I've thought about it before after reading some postings on the Disney Solos board... trying to figure out how they do it. I might be able to do it on vacation or something... but wouldn't ever do it at home.

Is there a reason she couldn't go and buy some food and bring it home? It seems like she was trying to make you feel bad by saying she was just going to eat toast...

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

well, the Dh is out of town a lot and I dont have time to cook :confused3 so :confused3 I go out to lunch by myself as well too. :confused3

I could never dine out alone either. There is something intimate about eating a meal with someone, it is just meant to be shared. (Of course I am not surprised that someone may feel differently, that is fine too).
I never really understood going to the movies with friends...that seems like an ideal activity to do solo, and a very poor idea for a date!

I don't think I'd go out to dinner by myself, but I usually eat lunch by myself. Never minded I guess :confused3

I differ from with my friends and family, I dont mind eating alone, traveling alone............ it is not a big deal to me, probably because I am very strong and independant. I also am single!!
Stacie

Btw if I could take my beagle, Sulley into the restaurant we would probably have dinner together more often

It wouldn't bother me to eat alone......

I eat alone and drink alone...yeah with nobody else...you know when I eat alone I prefer to be by myself..... :lmao: :lmao:

Yes, I am silly tonight....

So if your DH was out of town,, and you had a hankering for cheese enchildas from On The Border, you wouldn't go by yourself if all your pals were busy? :confused3

I have no problem eating alone, either lunch or dinner. I don't eat at the kinds of places that would make me feel self-conscious. Sometimes I'll have a book or something to work on so I don't get fidgety. I have no problems going to the movies alone either, in fact I just went and saw Nanny McPhee this afternoon. If I want go somewhere and no one else is available I'll go alone! :woohoo:

No I would order take out :goodvibes . So I can do some things, maybe one day I will work up to that ;) . I respect the people that can, but I have never been alone. So I think it would be really hard for me. Besides when my DH wont come with me my mom usually tags along.

I do it all the time. Me, food, what else is needed? :teeth:

I agreee. Actually, I travel a lot for work, so I kind of got used to eating alone, even at 'upscale' places. I usually bring a magazine to look through, I find a book too awkward. Of course, there's always work to plod through too!!

Some people are just really insecure and need someone with them all the time I guess....I went to the Bahama by myself for a week long getaway one year, ate in the restaurant by myself every day and it was actually very relaxing..no need to make small talk at the table with anyone, I always take a book or magazine and sit there and eat and read..the way I figure it is that I am there to eat, why would I need someone there to "help" me eat?? I can also go to the movies alone no problem...when you are at a movie you are there to watch the movie, not talk to the person next to you anyway....

Thank you for saying this much better than I could.

Don't get me wrong, I love to eat with other folks. But I have absolutely no problem eating alone, whether it's Arby's or a "sit-down restaurant." I just take a book or something, sometimes not.
