Hey guys, I had a question for people that have done the program before. I'm still pending unfortunately, but at least I can dream. I can't cook to save my life, but it wouldn't be wise to eat fast food every day because it's unhealthy and adds up. What did you current/former CPers do as far as eating goes?

Former CP and pending as well for spring: day 47. I know how you feel.

I pretty much lived on
pop tarts
pb&j
pasta
cereal
ramen
pizza
and sweet tea.

It's possible to eat healthy and practically without eating fast food! Salads can be thrown together in an instant. Soups can be easily heated in the microwave. Lean cuisines and healthy choices are good options. Sandwiches with lunchmeat and cheese are good too. There is always oatmeal and cereal for breakfast. Fruit and fresh veggies are good snacks.

Just because you can't cook doesn't mean you have to eat junk!

My lunches were usually pb&j uncrustables, a small carton of orange juice, and a fruit roll up.
I sometimes made ramen or another kind of soup before work, and rarely had any meat. If not soup, usually spaghetti or something like that... Pop-tarts were popular too. And then there was McDonald's and Arby's, etc. I lost weight, surprisingly!

Typically, either Progresso or Campbell's Chunky soup is priced between $1.50 and $2. Highly recommend you stockpile those - cheaper pasta is often not substantive enough, particularly if you have a more physically active role. Soup got me through my program mostly sanely.

Most of my days consisted:
Breakfast: Cereal or Oatmeal
Lunch: Soup (Subway once or twice a week)
Dinner: Typically pasta and chicken.

Oh, I should mention: In four months as a photographer, with the diet listed above, I lost 50 pounds. If you're already AT a healthy weight, however, you should easily maintain it.

These are all good! The thing about cereal, though, is that I'm worried that having all that milk and going out sweating will cause me to get sick.

Wal-mart has these things called Pasta Sides or Rice Sides for like $1 a piece. I stocked up on those. They don't take much to cook just follow the directions... you could probably cook one in about 15 minutes and you can watch TV or listen to music while you do it. Salads and sandwiches are good as is Subway-especially if you get MK. Dominoes delivers until 2 or 3 and you can order it online which is good for later nights. Chef Boy R Dee ravioli was something i ate a lot. Hot Pockets are easy to make and my roommates and I tried to keep a Ben and Jerry's ice cream each. That's all that's coming to my head at the moment, but I know that's not all that I ate haha.

You could always do cereal bars or granola bars instead, to skip the milk. That's what I tend to do on mornings I work out first thing. Or, bagels with peanut butter (and bananas if you like them) or a little bit of cream cheese is easy to do.

How do eating/breaks while on the job work? I'll be a Food Prep cast member in Disneyland, so I imagine I'll be in one of the restaurants in either one of the parks or the hotels, I'm not sure where yet. I've never actually had a "real" job before besides for camps, and I imagine Disney is different anyway -- do you get a break if you are working a long shift? Where do you go?

Yes, you'd get a break. I at least would get one 15 minute break if I was working a 4 hr shift. If it was 6 hours, I got 2-15 minute breaks and if it was 8 hours, I got 2-15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch, and so on... We had a breakroom in our area we were allowed to use. I would sometimes head down to Cosmic Ray's breakroom and I saw the cooks and QSFB people there so I assume you would use the same breakroom. Although, the case could be different with Disneyland. I have no clue how their breaks/ breakrooms work. :confused3

Those breaks sound nice...I work for a different amusement park now and I get a 45 minute or one-hour break after every 4 or 5 hours. I'd much rather it be spread out like that!

I lived off of mac & cheese, raviolis, soup, captain crunch, & anything my roommates cooked :) you can walk to chickfila, bennigans, & wendys from vista way :)

There was one week where my roommates and I lived off of grilled cheese sandwiches and ramen haha. Other than that when we did go shopping, we tried to stick to the store brands with everything we bought. Good luck! :)
