Eating Kosher?

Okay, I have a question that a former colleague asked me and I was stumped! I know DCL does an awesome job with allergies for cruisers but are they able to provide kosher food for a family. A friend would be cruising with his wife, 5 children and probably his in-laws. So it would be a big group that would wish to stay kosher for the entire cruise.

Does anyone on the Dis have experience with this? He said he would call to check but to be honest he was rather apprehensive. Not quite sure I blame him either.

So I thought I would reach out to the Dis to see if anyone had any experience with this. TIA!

Yes! DCL offers a kosher menu (all double wrapped and looks like a TV dinner)! My family has direct experience with kosher meals at WDW and DCL. Your friend or their travel agent will need to notify DCL so that they will have enough meals onboard for that large of a group. I believe the certification is "Star K Glatt Kosher." The meals are only available in the main dining rooms (so they would have to eat there for breakfast and lunch too). There is a variety of different options for entrees, bread, soups, dessert, etc...

Also, if they want to bring anything on board with them, you can check with DCL. They may reserve a section of a frig for you. I have a few friends that have cruised on other lines and were able to make such an arrangement.

I have cruised before and I will actually be cruising again in a few days so I can update this again (DM me a week from Sunday to remind me). In general, here is the menu that they have:
Soups/Bread/Salads
-Matzoh Ball Soup

-Chicken Tenders w/French Fries

-Cheese omelet w/home fries

Champagne/Wine
-Kedem Champagne

Additionally, when I sailed last time (and this time too) it was during "yeshiva" break so there were a significant amount of jewish people on the cruise. They actually had a kosher BBQ at Cookies at Castaway Cay! Now, i dont know if that is always or only during yeshiva break, and I dont know if they still have it, but again i can update after my upcoming cruise. Also, on the magic and wonder the ice cream was kosher, however i do not know about "eye scream" on the dream, but I will be asking

I inquired before my first cruise and was told it was like traveling on an airplane - prewrapped and prepared. I am a little more flexible and chose to go vegetarian for the cruise and there were lots of options - I never felt like i was limited. However, that won't work if they're glatt strict. But if they're not, it is certainly doable.

Because the ship doesn't have a kosher kitchen, Kosher meals are prepared elsewhere and brought on board, so they must have their request in before boarding (long before boarding I'd guess)

He's got 5 little girls and I keep nagging him to cruise. Now he has no excuse!!

It actually says right on the site that they can provide Kosher meals.

I think they really try to help everyone with their dietary needs. Just an FYI there are certain carts/restaurants in WDW that stock kosher meals and dont need advance notice.

For the meal to be truly kosher, the ship would need not only 2 kitchens but separate plates and utensils used for serving and eating the kosher food.

That is why they order the prepackaged meals, heated in their wrapping, all utensils included. Some of my party will be partaking of them in June!
