Eating .. GASP .. Offsite - Non-Chain Restraunts?

We really liked Miller's Ale House. It's right off-property, you get huge (shareable) portions, and it's not too expensive. We heard about it from locals.

I love this place. I lived in Orlando before going to college and we always ate here!! Great place for wings and fries/onion rings! We always just shared!

Yeah I know it's a chain, but we like Chevy's in the Crossroads area across the highway from the Downtown Disney area.
Everything is made fresh and homemade. It is rare to find a restaurant where things are made from scratch, even a non-chain one. I like it a lot.
AND if you are there in the evening, there is a guy who makes balloon animals!!!
I got a pink teddy bear holding a heart balloon (yeah, i'm 38...so what!)

almost everything mentioned so far is a chain restaurant. But then again, people from different parts of the country may not have heard of some of them. I was amazed when I met a girl several months ago new to FL who had never heard of chick-fil-a, nor steak-n-shake.

Anyway, if you don't have kids, and you have time for a relaxing meal, I would hit up the melting pot. http://themeltingpot.com/ Yes, its a chain, but with locations just sprinkled across the US, and it actually started here in the Orlando area.

We also love the Ale House. We make it a point to eat here every trip.

Been there, ate that! YUM! Ale House is one of our faves.

We also enjoyed Flippers pizza in the Crossroads. Yes, it is a chain but their pizza was really good and they burned my pizza and gave us another one for free while we waited for mine. So we ended up with lots of pizza to take back our studio for lunches.
