I'm going to Disney World for the first time with my family of five. My older daughters, (ages 12 and 10), want to eat at the Sci Fi Dine-In Theatre at Disney Hollywood Studios. My son is four and can't sit at restaurants. My daughters really want to go. Do you think that the theme and "sitting in cars" will attract my son and make him sit still? Is the food and restaurant worth the price? Is the service slow?

This restaurant is an attraction itself, that alone makes it worth the time and price to eat there. We do lunch here every single trip, it's tradition. We love the corny campy movie trailers. Your son will love the cars and the lights and maybe be fascinated by the big screen. Sit him on the INSIDE of your car, they have kids drinks that light up, he may like those. We've never had slow service there...or...it could be we enjoy the place so much, we just never noticed not getting our food right away. You will get various opinions and experiences, but i know my 13 and 23 yr old (been going there since the older one was 4!) would not miss it for the world!

Also wanted to mention, it IS dark in there (there are lights on the dashboards), so if he's afraid of the dark, let him know ahead of time. We are talking old scarey movies, not scarey to us but to a little one, he may think it's scarey. there are only a few of those, they are not all scarey. Walt even makes an appearance!

food is so-so....

shakes are good...

movies are horror movies. may make little ones scared!!

The service there is just about fast enough to let you view one showing of the features/cartoons/trailers/etc. That's about 45 minutes. We're usually seated and out again in about 50 minutes.

I don't know your son, but watching the movie screen may just keep him occupied.

This was my boys favorite from the time all three were four, still the place they ask to go as adults now. The movies are all old sci fi, usually very funny by todays standards, mine were never scared. Lots of cartoon and old drive in clips, really a fun spot. The food gets bashed often here, but we have never had a bad meal, and never miss this on our trips! Think it is a great choice for all of your ages.

ITA-- except my 2 kids are only 14 & 11 now ;)

The "scary, horror" movie clips are things like "Attack of the 50ft Woman" very very campy/hokey B sci-fi movies. We've always had good meals and the kids have always been entertained. :goodvibes

Also, The Blob and Plan 9 are two i remember. Also some footage of future inventions that never came to be. Fun stuff to watch, even over and over again, lol. :lmao:

It's worth going to do once, but honestly the food is not anything special. Order a cheeseburger and you'll be happy. The experience of being there is wonderful though. :)

Thanks everyone, sounds like a great time, if kids can be entertained while they eat, all the better! We will try it!!
