Eating at Inventions your whole stay??

Here's my conundrum...

We've just booked a 4 night stay at DLH using the recent discount with the free half board. I've never used any sort of dining plan...so my understanding that since we're at DLH, it's the premium half board. Correct me if I'm wrong?

In an effort to get the most bang for our buck, I've been reviewing the more high end restaurants (all, actually) and their menus. I'm not so picky, but between my husband that's not keen on seafood, and an Aspie (Autism) son with food aversions, I'm finding it difficult to find something that suits all three of us every night. I just want to makes sure everyone is happy, we get the most for our money and food isn't going to waste. :)

We DO all however really enjoy Walt's, so one night we'll be going there. But would it be too far fetched to consider eating at Inventions the other 3 nights? Does the buffet offer enough variety, or perhaps ever rotate a bit day to day?

And the characters? I understand the randomness of them, but are we likely to just keep seeing the same ones (on our walk from the hotels on the last 2 trips, we kept seeing the same characters in the windows of Cafe Mickey, every time we walked by)...? Any thoughts or suggestions? :confused3

I can't say about Inventions but I know Restaurant des Stars is pretty much the same everyday. I have had the same options for the past 3 years I have gone, desserts have changed but even as much as I love eating there I don't think I could do 3 days in a row at the same restaurant.

We didn't try Inventions as most of the pics i'd seen of the buffet have a lot of seafood involved.

Have you thought about doing the Buffalo Bill show? That's included in the premium vouchers.

We've had the buffet at hotel new york a few times and always enjoy that.

There are non fish options at Blue Lagoon too, which is also a nice experience.

BBWWS did cross my mind, but neither guy eats chili or apple crumble ( what kind of red blooded American doesn't!?? Lol )....

Thought I think eating at the same place 3 nights in a row might be a bit mundane...I think the selection will work out best. And maybe we'll get lucky and see a bunch of characters. Lol...one can hope anyway!

Are there any places you haven't eaten at before? (I'm trying to think of other options I could perhaps suggest based on what you're looking for!)

Although I wouldn't choose to eat at the same restaurant three nights out of four, I can't think of a better one to be doing it! :goodvibes

There's plenty of choice and although I don't know how often they vary the menu, IMO there's enough different dishes that you shouldn't get bored of eating the same things even allowing for your DH not liking seafood.

I also love Blue Lagoon as well as Walt's and as Julie said it's not all seafood. Last time we were there my DDs had chicken and I had ostrich although I don't think that's on the menu any more.

Thank you! I feel better about it now...I'd love to try lots of new places, but I worry that it'll be wasted. We've visited serval of the counter service, Walt's, Cafe Mickey, Annette's. seems Inventions will have something for everyone. :goodvibes

We went ahead and made reservations last night for one night at Walt's and 3 at Inventions...at least they're booked and if we come up with something better perhaps we can change it once there. I'd love to slip a visit to Blue Lagoon in there. ;)

As always, thanks for the ideas! :)

We were put off Inventions for the same reason as we don't like seafood either. We tried it last June and there was plenty of other food to chose from.:goodvibes

Good to know, thank you!
I've looked at loads of photos of the buffet, but would love to find a synopsis of what's actually available (sometimes its hard to tell by the photos.) :goodvibes

This is what we found on our trip last June. Can't recommend the food high enough- I think Mickey had definitely been in the kitchen sprinkling pixie dust on the food!:rotfl:

Starters included duck and orange pate, duck with orange terrine, nachos with tomato slices and guacamole, coleslaw, fish terrine, prawns, mozzarella, smoked ham, smoked turkey, crispbread, pate in a pastry, lentil and pea soup, hard boiled eggs with a mayonnaise type dressing with little bits of vegetable incorporated in it.

Mains included pizza, chicken nuggets, the most amazing Fantasy potatoes (mickey head shaped potatoes in batter), potato gratin (I thought I’d died and gone to heaven with this!), the most amazing tender chicken with lemon and herb that literally fell apart in your mouth. Breaded chicken, beef, chicken and bacon.

Desserts included pistachio cake (which I think was DH’s favourite judging by the number of times he told me how amazing it was! Lol!), gateau, cheesecake, chocolate cakes with mocha cream and a raspberry on top that had a liquid dark chocolate filling, dark chocolate cheesecake, pecan tart ( this had become a DLP favourite of ours from our visit to Cowboy Cookout last year where it is served) and my favourite dessert was a sponge with caramel liquid topping and finished off with Demerara sugar – it reminded me of caramel shortcake. There were also flumps, boiled DLP sweets and some yummy lemon Minnie lollys.

There was also a large basket of fruit and freshly cut fruit salad of apple, orange, pineapple and grapefruit.

OMG! Thank you so so much!!:cloud9::worship:
That's exactly the sort of break down I was looking for! I'd say with all that, we're sure to find something to span over 3 days...lol...brilliant!!:goodvibes

Your very welcome. There is so much yummy food that we wished we could have eaten there more than one day to try it all out and go back more for more of our favourite meal options on the buffet.

We've never done it with the characters (hoping to put that right when we do the Sunday Brunch in September) and we eat at lunch time just as the Restaurant opened where we were literally the only people in the restaurant for a while!:goodvibes

Enjoy!:goodvibes

We ate at Inventions twice in the same week on one of our previous trips and the food was exactly the same both night.

They do have a lot of seafood but only in the starters not the mains.

I can say they do change it though as every trip we have had different food in here so I wouldn't get your heart set on the above menu.
